I've also posted this on Beauty, but I know there are a good few knowledgable beauty baggers here too :) I'm reasonably confident with my make-up but while I'm recuperating, I just fancied experimenting a little and getting some new ideas. So can anyone reccie me a good make-up book? A friend suggested this to me a while ago; anyone know if it's any good or have any other suggestions?

    NO.4. ask :
O/T How many of you carry rape/panic alarms?
I used to have one but the battery went last year and I threw it out instead of just getting it replaced
Reason I ask is cos I'm at home today and have seen the father and sister of Lucy Blackman (girl abducted and murdered in Tokyo a few yrs ago) on numerous programmes and on the news raising awareness of a device they've come up with that will alert you if your drink has been spiked.
There's been lots of talk baout carrying a panic alarm too and I just wondered if any of you did?
I'm gonna buy another one right now online as I did feel safer having that in my hand when I was walking home alone late at night and there are some very dodgy characters in Wood Green that I've seen when innocently looking out of my bedroom window and I feelon edge when I'm walking down my road really late sometimes.
    So do you carry one?
ETA: Is carrying CS gas illegal?
    Answer:
I don't, my sis gave me an old one she had but I never used it :o
When I used to work in a shop I was serving a woman on the till and hers went off - she couldn't find it in her bag at first, then it took her ages to get it to stop, it was soooo loud and the poor woman was hideously embarassed. Sort of put me off!

Yeah that happend to me on the bus! Sweet Jesus - the shame!!!! My friend was useless she just moved up the seat AWAY from me!
My old hsemates used to set it off randomly to wake someone up! Not funny! No wonder my batteries run out! They're so piercingly loud!!!
    Answer:
I've got one but to be honest it just sits at the bottom of my bag :o I think if I ever felt vulnerable I would take it out and hold it in my hand as I was walking.
But sometimes I wonder just how effective they are at deterring an attacker or attracting attention? Would passer-bys investigate if they heard an alarm go off?
    Answer:

I always look out of the window if I hear anything unusual. Also I assume I'd hear sounds of a struggle along with the alarm so I'd def take a look.
It's too easy to assume it's kids messing around or just an annoying car alarm.

    NO.5. ask :
    Delighted!
I have just purchased the most flattering dress I have ever owned in my life for £8 in Pradamark. Its the same shape as a galaxy but strapless, and made from really thick dull black satin. I absolutely love it and when I came out of the changing room to get a little bolero thing from the SA to try over it someone in the queue actually said 'Wow'..... and I had Uggs on with it!
Also got some lush black satin short shorts, some grey ones, some black gouchos, turquoise and navy stripe grandad shirt, really pale grey skinnies, a really long black victorian blouse that is basically a dress, a lovely long-line long sleeve deep v marl grey t-shirt, loads of knickers and tights, a grey vintage looking cami (sadly too small) and some wrapping paper.
    I love the polyester paradise!
