Shopping in Barcelona
Hi
I am going to Barcelona for a hen weekend at the end of the month and was wondering what the shopping is like? Are places like Zara and Mango any cheaper? Any other recs?
Thanks in advance!
Answer:
I wasn't blown away by the shops there, though I think the High St stores you mention are a lot cheaper. There are a lot of cheaper boutiquey places in the Born area, if that's your thing (not selling high-end designer stuff, more quirky kind of apparel). Sorry for the useless post, which this is - - I usually go mad for clothes shopping wherever I am, but for some reason Barca didn't really do it for me. I could have missed out on some great treasure trove, however! :p

Hi!
Barcelona is great for shopping and here are three quick suggestions:
*Paseo de Gracia avenue, where you can find stores such as Zara, Mango, etc etc and many spanish/international designer shops too! Simply my fave avenue in Barcelona!!!
*El Corte Ingles (there is a big one near the Hard Rock Cafe) where you can find everything from accessories to shoes to hats to designer/non-designer clothes! Very good!
*Las Ramblas - slightly more relaxed and less ´chic´but lots of little stalls and shops where you can buy original things or simply stroll around! ;)
(also post in travel for recs regarding restaurants, etc!) ;)
Answer:
Zara and Mango are cheaper, as are Zara's offshoots. Portal del Angel is a Zara stronghold, as practically every shop is Inditex.
The Born is a mix of big designer and local designer, but it's a lovely area to walk around and have drinks/tapas - try Born Cooking for it's scrummy cakes. There are lots of Spanish brands like Desigual and Lois, that might be worth a look. They can be a bit quirky but sometimes have really nice stuff. There's also a Pepe Jeans there, which I love. Tomates Fritos sometimes have nice things in and there is a Custo in the Born too.
The big international designers are on Passeig de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal. There is a shop called Jofre where you can ogle beautiful bags (a friend of mine runs the outlet but sadly no bags :boohoo: ).
There are more local designers around Plaça George Orwell (try Punto G) and there are street-fairs here and there (Plaça de la Vila de Madrid on Saturdays and Rambla del Raval on Sundays).
Can't really think of much more, it's a wierd city with lots of little boutiques and granny-style shops where you can sometimes find real gems, but most people just hit the big Zara (Passeig de Gràcia) or Mango (Portal del Angel).
Oh, round the Plaça del Pi (Banys Vells) there are some shops selling local stuff too.
And then there's Benetton, Sisley, HM, Topshop/Miss Selfridge...

first time posting a pic so hope this works!! i'm goin to a wedding in 2 weeks time, is this dress okay for a church wedding? what colour shoes would go with it apart from red, white or black!!? (ok i'm limiting my options here!!)
Answer:
Oh wow, That's gorgeous? Where is it from?
IMO you could wear red/white/black and play it safe or you could totally contrast with bright green or something! And then pick up the contrasting colour in your accessories, a green bag/earrings/satin ribbon belt. Ooh, I can see it in my head right now!
Answer:
Nice dress, where's it from? I don't wear a lot of red so afraid I'm stumped when it comes to matching colour with it. I'm sure the ladies here will help you out, they always come up with something! ;)

hey im trying to find a white shirt to wear with a black pencil skirt but all the ones iv tried on are too 'billowy' around the top and too short so they dont stay tucked in very well.

Answer:
I've seen sone in Gap recently, but not sure hoiw much they are. Also worth trying Next MS too, Dorothy Perkins.
Answer:
HM have some for 14.99 but my faves are Hawes Curtis (half price sale now on) for a Proper Shirt.
ETA HC shirts now £23 in sale
Answer:
Yep, I brought one from Gap, it was £20 or £24.99 either way, it was on offer, and less than £25.
You could also try Dorothy Perkins, which has some good quality shirts at cheap prices.
I'm just echoing Netti.
Answer:
