Next tailoring
What are people's experiences with how well Next tailoring wears, its quality? Being your typically scruffy student, I have very little in the way of smart clothing and need to do something about it. I have my eye on these trousers:
I'm normally wary of synthetic materials, but most of what I see within my budget is polyester/viscose mix, as these are. Am I just being misguidedly snobby?! I don't want to get premature shiny knee syndrome ...
So, opinions welcome :)
Answer:
ive got a few next suits for work and the tailoring on them are spot on they also wash really well i go for a more modern cut though cos some of the suits they do are a bit too old for mexx
those trousers look nice but im always wary of materials , if you dont like them you can take them back to a next storexx:)
Answer:
Hi! :)
Next is not my fave shop...in fact, I find it too conservative and classy, ie. boring, but I must admit that everything I have bought from Next (couple years ago) seems to be in great shape! (stone mac (veryyyy old) and it looks brand new after so many washes and wears!; black leather stilletos - still fine in their box; pinstripe grey wool suit - also fine but dont wear it anymore; black and white ribbed top, etc...)
Anyway, all these are fine and imho the quality is fairly good for a high-street store... :)
Answer:
Treat with caution, would be my recommendation. I've got some Next suits, and while they're OK for the price and are reasonably well-cut, I certainly don't expect to be wearing them for the next five years or so.
They wash OK, but be selective - some of the fabric doesn't hold its shape well and/or doesn't wear well.

Answer:
Thanks. I am utterly clueless when it comes to this sort of thing ...
I shall investigate asap and try and make the best judgement that I can. I suppose you only really learn these sort of things through experience ... I just didn't want to end up wasting money I don't have a lot of!
Thanks again.
Worryingly I need a black boob tube
NO.2. ask :
Worryingly I need a black boob tube
And I don't mean a decent bandeau top. I mean one of those actual boob tubes that barely cover your breasticles, used for clubbing circa 1997? Preferably of a black stretchy nature. Where on earth would I find one? And yes, I've already scoured ebay!
Answer:
Um you could maybe try a local market?!
Answer:
If not ebay then perhaps charity shops?
Answer:
any cheap(er) store or catalogue should do boob tubes which are short?
Answer:
Zara always has them... :)
White Skirts
NO.3. ask :
White Skirts
When can we start wearing white skirts?!!!
I'm so desperate to get into my more summery clothes!
Answer:
Now there's a question! White skirts/white trousers, but what pants to you wear??? I haven't dared venture into the 'white' thing through fear of the VPL - big pants, wee pants, thong or what?
But I agree, I'm dying to put my bloody scarf away.

Answer:
i tend to wear non lacey french knickers underneath or everyone might get a lovely view!
Answer:
Ah, you've just reminded me. I had that very problem to solve when I got married in November. I didn't wear a traditional wedding dress but a cute little vintage number I got in Rellik in Notting Hill. Even tho it had a polyester lining, it was still a bit too sheer so had to buy one of those not very sexy under-skirts from MS (the non-static variety at that) and it took me weeks to find the right pants!
Eventually found them in Top Shop, made by Charnos I think. They were quite 'frenchy'. Them, coupled with my garter, went down quite well with me husband!

Nude ones! ;)
I cant wait to wear white dresses, skirts, trousers and city shorts either! sob sob! It just feels a bit silly wearing them now in spite of weather being quite warm here and tourists going around in bikini tops and sandals!
Anyone got the Faith 'Antel' pumps?
NO.4. ask :
Anyone got the Faith 'Antel' pumps?
Sorry, don't know how to post a pic from flash but they're on the Faith website under Casual Shoes / Plain Pumps / Page 3 - third along on top row. Have just bought these in pewter - just wondering if anyone has these and how they've worn, as they're not leather but they're probably the comfiest pair I've tried on in my search for pumps and they'll go with the majority of my wardrobe!
If no one has them, opinions will do on whether you like or not! Thanks! :)
Answer:
Are they these?
If so, they're fine, although in the photo the colour looks a bit 'flat' IYSWIM. But I think I've seen them in store and they're nicer IRL.
g_k
Answer:
Yes, they're the ones - well done on the posting of the pic, I knew I could rely on someone here!
They are very comfy...! Thanks G_K! ;)
Answer:
I think they're nice enough, the colour means they'll be very flexible so you'll get a lot of wear out of them; thats the good thing about metallics.
Answer:
I like them too :)
They do look very comfy.
The Weekend
NO.5. ask :
The Weekend
I can't believe it is half past 3, and there has been no weekend thread!!!!
I am very bored and tired today, so will happily start one off...
I am quite busy out and about this weekend:
Tonight, I am going to see my friend in hoxton for a few drinks. Had thought I would go to the gym on the way home but managed to have 2 glasses of wine at lunchtime and have lost all gym motivation.. I will wear what I am wearing today later as I can't be bothered to go home and change, so grey baxters, vintage patent gina shoes, leopard print t-shirt dress and black kukui beads.
Tomorrow, I have my purchaser coming round with the surveyor again to check out back wall at 9am ( ), so will fling on whatever is decent and near my bed, then have the mother in town, so going to do a bit of shopping in islington and take her to see my new flat. Will be black cord shorts, opaques, vintage grey suede boots, jumper and my black and pink capelet.
Then my sister is taking over and I am off to meet a load of crazy girls I know for a big night out in hoxton. Am going to wear black jagged hem mini with satin pintuck waistband, black opaques, electric, black vest top, vintage blue beads and blue Vivienne Westwood platforms.
Sunday, shopping again with Mutti, in jeans and ballet pumps and my Stella HM deep v jumper, before going to LMNT restaurant for sunday night dinner and opera in the same outfit as the day plus ankle boots I think.
So what are you all up to?
Answer:
Tonight
Off to see Narnia after work and avoid eating ice cream whilst I'm there. Will have to go in work clothes though (Black pencil skirt, black 3/4 sleeve shirt, black patterned opaques, purple sash belt and flat black ts shoes, red bead necklace)
Tomorrow
It's my b.day :) so I'll finally get my lush bag yippee! Going for facial at 10am and in the evening going for a Chinese meal, then going out! Gonna wear my bronze slouch boots from DPs, black TS racer vest over a white vest, black beads, charm necklace, grey skinnies and red or purple belt. Might go for black nail varnish as well
Sunday I shall chill out.
Have a good 'un everyone ;)
Answer:
Mutti - is that your mum????!
I have a very low key weekend, but gearing up for a full on week next week which seemed like a good idea before I got a job, but now seems a bit reckless  .
I am working for a friend tonight and tomorrow night making cocktails for some much needed christmas spending money. Will actually be fun as I'll be working with all the people I used to work with in bars who are total nutters and will probably tempt me into dodgy antics after work. Anyhow meant to wear a black shirt and trousers, but will be trying to get away with black CC ballet dress over black skinnies with black ballet shoes.
Saturday AM will be gym followed by Christmas tree purchasing and decorating with Mr Mimi so nothing fancy.
Sunday will be Christmas shopping and shoe chasing with Mr Mimi and then dinner with his Mum who's coming to stay for 3  nights. Will probably wear Reddy brown vintage boots, black puffball mini, stripey top, military jacket, furry hat to complete Russian Princess effect.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and please remember to misbehave Lizzie.

Answer:
Happy birthday for tomorrow laboo! :bday:
Well tonight I'll be having a quiet night with OH, watching tv and eating sausages and chips and peas! I'll be wearing what I am now - burgundy cord skirt, black overized polo-neck jumper (as in the neck part is oversized), woolly black tights and burgundy beaded and sequinned stretchy hairband.
Tomorrow I am going to London for a bit of Christmas shopping (on a Saturday, it's going to be heaving I know) followed by a boozy late lunch with my girl-friends (we do it every couple of months at the least). Can't decide on an outfit because I might be going to a party after that and I can't think how I can be warm and comfy during the day and seamlessly become all partyish! :uzzle: but think I might wear my favourite brown cord 50s style circle skirt with beige hearts printed on it because it makes me smile (might take red sparkley shoes with me). So yes, in the evening I might be going to our friends' party in Ladbroke Grove depending on what happens with the lunch.
On Sunday we will probably mooch around the flat some more.
Answer:
Ladbroke Grove is my neck of the woods Nazneen!!! Hope you have a great weekend.
Mimi xx
