OTT for work?
I'm not very confident when wearing new clothes but I've recently bought a pair of skinny black cords. Will I look ott wearing these tucked into a pair of metallic pewter boots to work? I work for a big firm in the city. It's not all suits though. I'd feel more comfortable in shoes but my thighs look fairly big without the boots to balance them. I'm leaving at 3.00 to go on my group lunch which is why I want to wear something a bit different. Don't want to look like I've made too much effort and feel uncomfortable though.

Hmmm. I've worn nude fishnets with knee length shorts and kitten heels before and was fine (I think!)

If you are worried it will look too night timeish then i wouldn't worry at all. I've worn my pewter metallic boots today casually and they looked fine so i can imagine they would work with work outfits too:)

Thanks for replies. I really want to go for it but not sure i'm confident enough. I may take them in a bag to change into (tho I think I'll look like a loser for getting dressed up to go to a works do.)

THe primark in Bournemouth was fudging awful when I went yesturday morning. Loads of bare rails and nothing new, and just an awful range. It aybe that they hadn't had a chance to restock after the weekend. I read in the news paper that they have had to charter flights from Russia to bring new stuff in!

Have read in the Hemel Gazette that their whole warehouse was destroyed by the Oil Depot incident, losing them over £5m in stock .. and I read previously that they'd only just consolidated their business from a number of smaller locations to this big one in Hemel.
It's going to be a bleak Christmas for ASOS all round ... :(

Okay, my mum's friend is throwing a suprise party for my friend on saturday, and as it's the only party i'll be going to around christmas (:() i want to dress up a bit :yay:
I've got a charcoal pencil skirt from ts (can't see it on the site anymore) but i don't know what else to wear.
I was thinking maybe a black long length ts vest on top... maybe?
But i really need help with shoes - i'm 5'8 and i feel too tall when i wear heels so i mainly wear ballet shoes, but they just don't have the same effect with the pencil skirt as heels would :( i also have 2 pairs of irregular choice kitten heels, but would they look silly with the skirt?
I love the new look vintage style knot peeptoes, but there's no way i could walk in them and i'd look like a giant :(

Alternativly I dont think kitten heels would look at all bad, or perhaps pointy flats?
I cn't quite visualize a long length vest top with a pencil skirt though, I would personally go for soemthing more dressy, although maybe others have seen this look and can imagine it better? Id probabaly go for either a shirt-type top, or a camisole? Maybe a wrap top?

I feel your pain Lisa, I'm 5'10 and hate wearing heels!! I still think you could get away with 2-3" heels though, 5'10-11 isn't that tall...

I'm going to a discoish but also slightly fancy party later on and I have my outift sorted out:
-black clingy y-necked vest
-baby pink ballerina wrap - ends below bust
-topshop skirt from summer range (i think), brown, pretty short with pleats
-Black tights
-Converse or pumps - haven't decided
I'm going to wear a cream pashmina too, I'll ditch it when I get there.
Now I'm stuck on accessories - I'm not sure whether to go for bright or subtle, I have some nice amber beads which are subtle, I have long pearls (faux) and loads of other things, but I don't know what I would wear if I went for a statement. Any ideas?
