Special Birthday Presents
hi.
I am in the middle of planning for my 21st in july, and have been asked by a few family members what i would like. there's not much i really want, but seeing as its my 21st and its a big thing for females in our family (not so much the guys) i'd really like things i can keep.
So my question is, what's the most memorable present you've gotten or your favourite keepsake present?
Just really looking for inspiration as to what to mention to my family.
(as well as being nosey!)
xXx
Answer:
A trial flying lesson for my 18th :heyhey: I can honestly say i have never done anything quite so mental in my life. The whole thing lasts about 2 hours (an hours chat and instruction and an hour in the air) they let you take control for some of it and let you land. The instructor also did loop the loops and things :D
If you live near an air field i'm sure they do them.
for my 21st i got some driving lessons (not quite as fun but a lot more useful)
Answer:
My favourite present was a diamond ring from OH that I got for Christmas, or an amethyst ring I got from my grandparents for my 18th. Neither of them were expensive - they were both second hand/vintage but they're just so beautiful and mean so much because of who they're from.
I definitely think classic jewellery is a good 'keeper' present.
Answer:
I think something you wouldn't buy for yourself.
My memeorable presents have always been something that alot of thought has gone into.
For example Mr tigs got me tickets to see Sound of music in London and my Brother bought me a great book on rollercoasters cos he knows I'm obsessed by them.
However my best birthdays are when someone spends time planning them.
On my 21st Mr Tigs hired out a gorg Mercades, took me on a Champagne picnic and then out to dinner with friends. It was one of my best days ever :)

For my 21st this year my Nan gave me her sewing machine. I've loved it for years and always used it when I was doing my Textiles at school. She said she wanted to give me something practical and I am the only girl in the family who does sew so she thought it'd go to good use!
I've promised her that I'll always keep it in the family and to hand it down to my grandchild one day. :D
ETA: My little Ralph was my 21st present from Mr BB.... he is the BEST present ever!! :throb:
accessories ideas for this dress?
NO.2. ask :
accessories ideas for this dress?
hi everyone
i've bought this dress for a wedding this summer.
i thought of wearing it with white or cream sandals/flip flops and some big earrings - do you think it will look a bit casual?
any ideas of what other shoes i could wear with it?
thanks :D
Answer:
Go for bronze/ gold shoes- whatever the detailing is on the dress- but in a very simple design, nothing too fancy.
Wear chunky bangles and drop earrings but no necklace
Have a clutch bag in bronze/ gold colour.
Answer:
Wss, spot on advice :great:
Answer:
That dress is fab ! I really love the colour :great: . cream/ivory sandals would be perfect to recall the dress details.
IMO it would be nice with a cream stole too :)
Answer:
Hi!
I would go for big dangling goldish earrings (no necklace as to avoid ott) and goldish sandals and aqua/goldish embroidered clutch
;)
Shall I?
NO.3. ask :
Shall I?
Shall i go out in the rain and into town (its about 10mins walk) knowing nobody else will be in town? This means i could have a proper rummage in primark and peacocks without wanting to smack people.
Or shall i stay in, in the warm with a good book and sky for company? (Mr A is at work and my friends are all scared of the rain  )
Answer:
Dash into town, have your rummage, buy lots of nice things, run home and snuggle up on the sofa with a good book and Sky whilst gazing at your new things :D
Answer:
Yes! What moog said :) plus a nice long bath to warm you up when you get home!
Answer:
I agree with the girlies! Best of both worlds then ;)
Answer:
Right then i'm off... Wish me luck. :cmeek:
French connection Boom tunic
NO.4. ask :
French connection Boom tunic
A bit late to suddenly want one, but I really like this tunic and it could easily go with loads of things in my wardrobe!:D
Has anyone got one? Is the quality nice, and do they look nice IRL?
Thanks xx
Answer:
i had one but had to return it, holes appeared in the material, its very sheer, like a pair of tights if you wear a belt over it it snags it ! plus the shape was a bit 'square' on me, but then im not a massive tunic fan so maybe asking the wrong person !
Answer:
I've got one and I've worn it a lot, especially when I was pregnant as it's nice and stretchy. The material is quite thin and I sized up as a) I had a big bump and b) I wanted it slouchy. I still really like mine. Hope you find one :)
Answer:
There are a few on ebay for around £35, which i'm guessing is slightly cheaper than full price?
I like it, but am worried it won't suit me, being quite curvy; stretchy tops can make my boobs look huge:cmdunno: but I've lived in empire line smocks for months so I fancy a change.
I may size up and get a 14, as I would rather have it slouchy. I would probably wear it with skinny jeans, or tucked in slightly into an A line skirt for a blouson-y shape iyswim and heels.
Answer:
I wanted this too, looked at a few on Ebay as well and there was one hanging on a hanger being sold second hand and it was so thin you could see the print from the back of the dress through the front IYSWIM! That put me off. I hate stuff that is see-through (sp?) Specially for £35.00
Not seen it in IRL though so cant help much more!
Packing challenge
NO.5. ask :
Packing challenge
I'm off this Saturday to the south of France on a school trip. We're staying in the foothills of the Alps so the day time weather will be 30-35c with the evening goign down to almost 0c- what the hell do I pack?!
To add a further complication, I can only take a small holdall and have to take clothing for watersports :cmdunno:
I'm definitely taking my Uggs to wear at night when I'm telling the kids off for being in the wrong tent etc but what else?
Answer:
Shorts
Sun cream
A big woolie jumper for sleeping in (i always get bloody cold when i'm in a tent)
Vest tops (racer backs rather than strappy)
erm...
Answer:
Do I travel in my skinnies and uggs to leave more space in my bag- Mr Moog thinks I should roll up skinnies and wear with flip flops when we leave then roll them down and change into uggs during journey- 24 hours coach journey :faint:
:cmdunno: I just want to go back to bed....:urrender:
Answer:
difficult one ! i think id wear the uggs to travel in pack the flip flops to wear on the coach take a pash which will act as a pillow/shrug/blanket
Answer:
Bring lots of layers, and a fleece if you have one, and a warm hat. A lot of heat escapes through your head so if you are out at night checking on the kids it wil keep you warm. Also, you might want to wear it sleeping if your sleeping bag doesn't cover your head. Wear the bulkiest items travelling, so wear the Uggs.
