Can I wear this to a wedding and DAY Birger et Mikkelsen sizing question
Hi everyone,
I have been relentlessly searching for a dress to wear to a wedding in May. My friend recommended day birger et mikkelsen and I found this online and really like it, my only worry is that it's a bit bridal. Do you agree, or would this look ok with the right accessories and pashmina/cardigan?
close ups can be seen
As I'm not sure I can get to a store I'm going to have to order online and wondered what sizing was like - I'm fairly petite but do have big boobs so not sure whether to go for a 34 or size up to a 36.
I've also just noticed that the mannequin size is apparently 5'11, and seeing as I'm only 5' I have a feeling this might drown me :cmdunno:
Answer:
It is beautiful but I would be very very nervous about wearing cream to a wedding, even put with coloured acessories.
Answer:
I'm only 5ft nothing too and I think that would be nearly ankle length on me :cmdunno: It is gorgeous but maybe a bit too bridal.
Answer:
It is lovely but I think you're right about it being too long on you- combine that with the fact its cream and I think its going to be too bridal
Good luck searching though!
Answer:
The length is 42.5" for the 34, which is just over 3 and a half feet. I'd measure a longish dress of your own and then see how you feel. Size-wise, what bust size are you? A 27" bust doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre if you have a large bust.
As far as colour goes, I tend to avoid wearing white or cream dresses to weddings. If you know the bride well enough to ask, you could check with her; personally, I would advise you to steer clear of controversy - there are so many other colours and patterns out there that it's not exactly hard to ditch the bridal ones :)
BTW, has the same dress in navy if you really love the cut, and it's worth having a look on and for starters...
WAG wannabes and other shallow girls
NO.2. ask :
WAG wannabes and other shallow girls
Is this all our young girls are aspiring to be? I watched Big Brother last night and was gobsmacked by the attitudes of some of the girls going in aka Chanelle, Charlie, the twins and others whose names I don't remember. And its not just big brother, there are girls like it everywhere, their only ambition is to look good go partying and bag a rich bloke who will fund their lifestyle. Now I love to go shopping and have nice things but it's only a pastime, its not my number one priority in life. I know of girls who don't want to work full time cos it interferes with their social life and girls who say they can't afford to get a place of their own but blow a grand a month on clothes and shoes whilst trying to get a loan for a boob job:eek:
Please tell me its not that that bad and we still have some normal ambitious hard working girls coming out of our educational establishments these days:(
Answer:
I agree with you green goddess. I'm gonna be doing my final year of my degree next year, and then I'm hoping to get onto a pgce course so I can be a teacher. I've always wanted to do something, and I hate the thought of not working for myself and having a man pay for it all! Where's your self-respect when you do that?
It's like my dad said last night when one of the unemployed girls on BB said 'I love money'. He was like 'eh? But you haven't even got a job?!'
Really gets me angry, because it just seems to make it ok for teenage girls to follow that attitude, and lets face it, where does that leave them once the rich men have had enough of going out with them and moving on to another bimbo?
Also gets me angry when anyone who aspires to get a decent job, their own place etc are labelled as boring...
Answer:
yes of course there are girls who want to be somebody, BB does not represent the real world and those girls videos are not the real them, its what sells. BB also will edited any smidgen of intelligence out of the evening progs because intelligence is not entertaining.
Being a bimbo is cool these days look at jordan's success no wonder kids want to be vapid bimbos before thinking about education.
It s up to the public to not buy trashy mags, feed off celeb gossip and up to the mag writers and producers to not constantly feed the size zero debate. Its kind of a vicious cycle most people read the mag then don't think about the celeb's their lives and so on but the celebs are making millions.
Answer:
I agrre with Skyepark. BB does not represent the whole population. Nor do programs like pop idol, xfactor for that matter.
What it does is give these people the air time they never woul have gotten in the past , and it can give the impression the whole world wants to be Paris Hilton or Victoria Beckham...they don't
I don't know, or have ever even met anyone who was a despeate wannabe thank god.
the media have a lot to asnwer to in one respect, and ourselves too for devouring heat magazine and the likes
Answer:
I know what your saying about programmes like BB attracting these kind of people and I am not daft enough to think these girls represent the whole teen girl population of Britian but there is definitely loads of girls like them in our towns and cities. If you don't know any then I am surprised, maybe we don't know people who are quite as bad as them but I personally find it a bit worrying that my niece admires Paris Hilton:(

Too high?
NO.5. ask :
Too high?
I bought a gorgeous pair of tan high heels from River Island today - they're not on the website and I haven't taken a pic but might do later for the curious ones amongst you!!
They're exactly what I was looking for in terms of colour/style/comfort, but the heel height is 4.5 inches. Not that I'm not used to walking in heels, but I wonder if these are too high from a health point of view. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the maximum heel height to prevent back/leg problems is 3.5 inches?
Anyone care to shed any light or tempt me into keeping these little beauties?!? :cmdunno: :)
Answer:
IMO if you love them and you haven't problem to walk in heels (I can't walk in high heels :boohoo: ) you should keep them. They are high but IMO unless you wear them every day, 24 hours x day , I don't think that they can create problems to your feet
Answer:
Keep them!!!
Just don't wear them for long stints!!!
x
Answer:
Thanks ladies - it's typical because I actually went out to buy this style of shoe just to wear to feel less casual in a pair of jeans for, say, a shopping trip. Have really got to think hard about whether to keep these or not....
Answer:
I live in high heels, always have done (except whilst dog walking of course!)
All my heels are that high and so far, i have come to no harm. i love river island shoes...nice and high..show us a pic ! :D
