Unsure about wearing this dress; what do you think?
Hello
I'm going to a wedding tomorrow; the bride and groom are old friends of Mr Sweets. I bought a dress a few months ago while i was in London, tried it on with some shoes i already had, liked it and didn't think much more of it till today.
Today i've tried on the whole lot again to show Mr Sweet. I thought it looked ok, but the dress didn't fit me as well as i remembered (not too big or small particularly, just not as good a fit). I asked what he thought of the ensemble and he replied "It's alright. Just a dress really." Exactly the response I was after, obviously  Anyway, now i am really unsure of it all.
I have another dress i wore to a wedding last year that i like, but it was scorching hot then and i think it'll be a lot chillier tomorrow. I'm not sure i like the dress with a cardigan, in fact i'm now not sure if i like the dress at all and am panicking.
What do you think? It only cost £35 and everything else i had already so its not too much money down the drain if i decide not to wear it. I'm worried its a bit Sandra Dee! And the cardigan thing worries me.
Any opinions appreciated xx
ETA Sorry they're so huge. I used tiny pic!!
Answer:
I really like the dress in your photo, not sandra dee at all
is this the dress you are not sure about with a cardigan?
What about a pashmina type wrap from tie rack. I think Tesco have the same sort of wraps too in metalic colours.
Answer:
I dont post in hereoften but just have to say I think that dress is lovely and really suits you-think it would be perfect to wear! Can I ask where you got it?:o
Answer:
I think it looks lovely!
Answer:
I think its lovely and it looks a good fit on you. What is the cardigan like? Although once you're inside, you can probably take off the cardigan anyway.

    Wearing tops over smart shirts
I see a lot of people wearing tops over smart shirts to work, i've seen the tops that Austin Reed and T.M Lewin sell that look really nice when worn over shirts - when i tried with my 2 for £20? Dorothy Perkin tops it didn't look nice at all!! it looked rather tacky!
Is there a cheaper alternative or will i have to fork out for the pricey stuff?
    Thanks for any advice...
    Answer:
I love this look too...they had a gorgeous casmere charocal grey tank top in one shop but it sold out, how i would have loved that over a crisp white shirt:cmdunno:
Anywho, i'd get something a bit more pricey....if you find anything let me know, ive been looking for this kind of thing for ages..!
P.s im not following you about the forums ,honest.
    Answer:
no I appreciate the replies fom you!!
I bought my shirts and suits in the xmas sales so they were a lot lot cheaper than full price which is why i'm reluctant to pay full price for those tops but they last and look good!!
i'm going to pop into Austin Reed and T.M Lewin on the way home have a look :)

    I'm strangely attracted to them...

    Answer:
Yes! I have them in yellow- they look really pretty on and are very comfy but very high- I'd say at least 5 inches on the heels. I am only 5"5 but felt really tall in mine! How tall are you Laura rose?

They work well with high waisted slightly flared jeans :)
    Answer:
Crikey they sound high. I am 5 ft 7 so I'd be six foot in them!

I love them, but they don't sound very practical!

Well I don't know if it counts because it's not a fashion blog per se but I love The Blonde's blog. She has much more fun than I ever do, a filthy sense of humour and a stupidly cute dog. What's not to love?

    Long sleeve, skin-tight black top
Er, the title says it all, really.
I'm looking (perhaps at the wrong time of the year) for a long sleeve, skin-tight black top to go under a 1960s vintage velvet tunic/mini-dress I've just bought.
Can anybody suggest a shop? Or has seen what I'm looking for?
    Thank you! :flower:
    Answer:
Gap had long-sleeve tops like this, but Im not sure if they still do. Worth a try though!
    Answer:
Good call. I should've thought of Gap (I think it's all the beige and grey in there right now blind-siding me). Thank you. :flower:
