Birkenstocks

NO.1. Ask :
Birkenstocks
I've just ordered a pair of white Madrids, hopefully will arrive on Wednesday and I just wondered if anyone has a pair and how long did you take to wear them in. I've heard that you should only wear them for a couple of hours for a few days to get used to them. I'm off to Bulgaria on Monday so I want them to be wearable by then!
last minute as per usual!!
Answer:
I have two pairs, my Papillio Madrids took a bit of wearing in alright. There was one spot where the strap rubbed my foot like crazy, so I'd advise wearing them, then identifying what your own problem area is (if any). For as much time as you have, wear them around the house with socks, then if needs be put a plaster or two on where they rub you when you go away. I also have Betula Madrids and they were comfy from day one. If you have arch problems they take more getting used to because of the shape of the footbed.
Answer:
I have pretty flat feet so I'm hoping I won't have too much trouble. I'm a 7/8 so I've ordered both because I'm not sure about sizing.
Fingers crossed I won't spend my holiday hobbling!!
Answer:
got my Birkenstocks - woo!
Ordered a 7 and an 8 for sizing and unfortunately the 8 fit me the best, so I have canoes for sandals!
Have been pottering about in them all last night and bravely wore them to work today. They are rubbing a little across the foot but I'm hoping if I persevere the leather will soften up.
The actual footbed is a bit wierd feeling too. My feet must be crap because even my Adidas Superstars hurt me after a couple of hours, they have the wierd moulded footbed too.
Fingers crossed - only 4 get ups to go! :D
Answer:
You might want to try Papillio or Betula Birkenstocks. I'm a 7.5 and the 7 in the traditional Birkenstock was too small (my toes were hitting against the edge) but the 8 was really big. The Papillio and Betulas are made for a narrow foot but somehow even though my feet are big, the 7 in these fits me perfectly. Also, the footbed is less extreme than in traditional Birkenstocks. If there is a Schuh near you have a look. I got a Betula pair there in April I think and they needed no wearing in.

Any recs for skinny jeans that keep their shape?
    Hi all
I bought some Topshop B skinny jeans a couple of weeks ago and they're sagging already (they seem to be worse after washing as well, initially they're nice and snug but literally within minutes they're sagging at the bottom!). I need a 26 waist and although the B jeans were nicely tight when I first bought them, they aren't anymore.
What I want really is a pair of jeans that keep their shape and I wondered whether any of you could help? All suggestions welcome, I've come to realise that I may have to pay more in order to get a really good pair of jeans!
    Thanks, girls!
    xx

I was about to recommend these too :great: I got Primark's indigo £12 skinnies 2 years ago, and I still wear them now and they're in perfect shape. Probably the best jeans I've ever bought, I'd say they're even better than my 7FAMK's :great:
    Answer:
I got a pair from HM two years ago they're still as 'skinny' as ever, probably the best skinnies I've got actually :great:

Help me decide - lipsy trench mac
2 Attachment(s) In my eternal quest for a replacement trench/mac I've come across these on the lipsy site and I'm unsure whether or not to order one. In the pics they look quite shiny/satin but I don't think they are in real life. Has anyone seen one IRL? It's mostly for work so satin is out. I'm also swithering about which colour to get - black or white :cmdunno:
    Answer:
I prefer the cream one, the black IMO is a little bit too shiny..
    Answer:
Im drawn to the cream for the same reason; it looks less shiny. However they may be different IRL?
I really love the idea of a cream mac; they're so chic and glamourous. Kylie Minogue has a lovely one, and she looks amazing in it :great: In reality though, if I had one, I'd end up spilling everything down it, and it'd be filthy within a week :o Maybe something to think about if you're as clumsy as me?
    Answer:
I agree, I think the black one may also look a bit sexy for work :heyhey: As in stockings and stilettos
Glitter Junkie I am the hashiest person with clothes, this mac is a replacement for my current cream one which is just filthy now - coffee, makeup, cigarette ash you name it. I keep telling myself that if I buy a new one it will be different - I'll be more carefull - hmmm, we'll see........
    Answer:
Cream imho! More chic and less obvious!
(and how many black jackets and coats have you got already??) ;)

    Father's day!
Someone mentioned it's soon (but I don't have a clue when). So I thought I'd start this thread so you can all inspire me, and others, what to do for Fathers day! :D
Actually I think my Dad wants to go to Alton Towers for the day, so I think we'll do that but I don't know to get him as a gift :cmdunno:
    Answer:
    Tis the 17th June.
I'm going to get my dad a selection of nice coffess from Whittard I think, and I've got him a cd. Easy to please, my dad. He's a pet.
And he just bought himself a new car - so thats present enough.
    Answer:
I *seriously* need some inspiration. It's my Dad's birthday as well as Father's Day. He doesn't read, listen to music or watch DVDs. He's not allowed to drink because of his illness. He's very picky about clothes and he doesn't wear aftershave or anything like that. What the heck can I get???

    What about a restaurant voucher?
    Answer:
Nope, doesn't eat out either. My parents don't speak to each other, so I can't seem them sitting through a meal together. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

    Why are men so strange?
I swear they get moods swings just as much if not more than we do
So my bf calls me....we are talking like normal. Laughing/joking whatever and then I mention that I noticed that nearly every single message I've sent him on facebook starts with poopie. Lame I know. He replies, 'yeh but you say that to everyone' to which I respond 'nah only people I love.'
    Silence
At this point I'm trying to think of all the people I've ever called poopie
    More silence from him
And then he just says 'I'm really sorry but I don't feel like talking any more, I'll speak to you later.'
Me: 'Huh? But you were fine before and you are the one who called presumably because you actually wanted to speak to me'
I forget what followed but I said goodbye to him after 2 mins minutes because he kept saying he feels really crap.
    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh????
    Answer:
    what!!!!

My mum said my dad gets her pmt and started complaining of pains when she was going into labour  men are weirdos
    Answer:
Men are like that. mine hates talking on the phone and I just get a lot of grunts in different tones :p Your OH probably just saw something he wanted to watch on the TV and got distracted or something :)
    Answer:
    LOL!!
Nursie I know what you mean, there is a lot of grunting and mumbling. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking far too much so I shut up...and silence ensues. So I ask why he isn't saying anything and apparently it's because he likes it when I talk. Liar
I really hope he's distracted by tv or some other mundane boy thing and not worrying about me calling some other boy poopie and getting paranoid about it :uzzle:
    Answer:
I swear my (male) boss gets PMT. his mood swings are almost as bad as mine. Most of the time he's friendly and chatty, but every so often he's snappy and miserable. We swear it's when the moon is full, or something.
