shopping in budapest
Has anyone been to budapest and is the shopping good there, read in now magazine its the latest hip place, there are some good spas there and will try one, but are there markets and shops that are cheaper than here. Going away with three friends for a girly weekend in 3 weeks. Thanks!

I went last year with work and I thought it was really overrated tbh :cmdunno:
We didnt have much time and only went to the major shpping centre - which had shops like morgan and ca. I think it had a replay as well.
I also thought that the food was a bit pants as well - there is loads of pike :confused: and food and drink was expensive.
I would say however, that I did only go for 2 nights and was at work for the majority of the time so I definitely didnt get the best impression. Hopefully someone who has been will have more info, its a really good idea to do your research as we had no idea on where to go at all and no time to find anything and I think its a city where you have to know what you are looking for!!

Main shopping street, Vaci Utca, has shops like Mango, MAC, Zara, and other high streets types like that. I didn't see any particular markets or stalls, but I went in Winter, the markets don't come out til Summer.
Food there is beautiful, I have been brought up on the cuisine, such as chicken paprikas which is beautiful, and the beef version too. Goulash is probably one of the only dishes known over here but it is nice when there is spice involved (usually is in Hungary). Feherbor and Vorosbor (white wine and red wine) are one of the most popular types of drink over there, and I rate them too. Also, make sure you call in at a patisserie and try a fondant or meringue cake, their delicacies.
I went to the Gellert Thermal Spa, which is lovely anf relaxing, you can have beauty treatments there too. There is a L'oreal salon next door where I had my eyebrows done for really really cheap.
I highly recommend a night cruise down the Danube. I think it cost around £10each and the city is beautifully lit up at night and the tour was multilingual and we got champagne inclusive.
Any more info, please message me, I know a lot about this city and country and a bit of language, I can't recommend this place enough it is one my most beautiful places in the world.

That's an ego-boost and a half isn't it? I live in fear of being stopped and asked to say bitch things about how old someone looks by that robotic woman from 10 Years Younger.
Not on the same scale of things at all, but I was wearing my copper sparkly tights yesterday and people kept looking at me - there was a really good golden light in the afternoon and I suspect my legs were actually shining.
Striding home at about 9pm, mp3 player on and in full stomp, some guy actually stopped me to tell me I was "beautiful". I don't think English was his first language though otherwise he probably would have said "your tights are beautiful".
