Can anyone help me with what to wear to a Bengali wedding?
I know it's a bit of a long shot, but if anyone has any advice of ideas I'd be really grateful.
I'm going to my work colleague's wedding on Sunday and I've not really got anything suitable. She's not in work now until after the wedding so I can't ask her what's appropriate. I know that obviously I need to not be showing lots of skin. I've been to one Bengali wedding before and I wore smart trousers with a top that covered my chest and upper arms and with wrap as well. I just didn't feel very dressed up though.
At the moment, the best thing I've got is work clothes and I don't really want to go in a suit as I reckon I'll feel very out of place. My other colleagues who are going are either men (so will wear suits) or are Asian women and are wearing traditional dress.
I'm going to try to shop for something tomorrow but I don't really know where to start :cmdunno:
Thanks in advance for any help! :)
Answer:
hey purple dress:wave:
you know when you say traditional dress do you mean like the dress with trousers or the sari type dress?
Maybe you could buy a nice pretty dress and wear with trouser black/white and a pretty shrug or bolero to cover your arms. And accesorise with colourful bangles, and i matching shoes, unless your feeling really confident and wear the traditional dress?:) for asian weddings think pretty and girly, but remember you have to be comfortabe in your clothes.
hope this helps
xx
Answer:
What about a maxi dress? maybe a little cardi over the top?
I had a newsletter emaily thing from ASOS today they had loads of really pretty, brightly patterned ones.
Have a lovely time at the wedding :)
Answer:
Thanks pink_hearts. I think they are both wearing saris. I wouldn't feel right wearing something like that personally. I think I'll try to find something like you said - a dress over trousers with a cardigan or bolero. x
ETA - thanks dolly as well. I haven't bought a maxi dress yet so will have a look at those too. x
Answer:
or if you did want to wear something more traditional but not a sari, you could go for a lengha, top and long skirt or salwar kameez, dress and trousers...

What to wear with black waistcoat?
Hello all. I aquired over the weekend (2nd hand) a black waiscoat. It's a fairly small one with neat little pockets on each side. I can't *really* do it up either. What do I wear it with? What do you guys wear yours with?
Answer:
Just a plain white vest, Kate style from TS.
Answer:
With what on the bottom? I don't think I can carry skinnies with it...without volume which I don't want to wear under the waistcoat.
Answer:
Id wear short shorts or skinnies and a plain white vest and lots of long necklaces and cuffs! :)

you eat and it turns out to be horrid and then you regret it especially when you are trying to cut down a bit.
I have just had a roll and the bread was stale even though I bought it this morning. Every one has this idea in heir head that the food is healthy and fresh here in Spain but I think that the standards are higher in the UK. I am putting on so much weight trying to find something to hit that spot but nothing does it for me. Oh I'm just waffling now.
Answer:
no i know what you mean, then you feel guilty for eating it because it wasn't worth it at all xx
Answer:
I've been to spain on holiday and never thought the quality of the food was great to be honest.
I know what you mean though when you expect something to be fab. although if I started eating it and it was crap I'd throw it..so wasteful am I.
Answer:
I feel the same about France. Everyone seems to think that the food here is wonderful...for the most part it isn't :(
Answer:
Also why is it that when someone shares a bite of their food with you it tastes yummylicous but when you get it for yourself it doesn't taste so good?
Berry dress, do you like it?

Berry dress, do you like it?
Hey, Another do you like this post from Piglet! (Sorry!)
Do you like this? I think its lovely :throb:
I was thinking it *might* look nice with black opaques and black patent bow stileto shoes (They're lush!)
Also, Do you think it would be suitable for a Christening? I have one near the end of May and cant really find anything suitable.
:D
Answer:
Lovely colour! Like the black and patent idea; I'd probably put it with jewel colours and metallics as well.
To me it looks both a little short and a little low in the neck perhaps for a christening.
g_k
Answer:
Gorgeous dress but I agree with geek kitten about the length of it for a christening.
Answer:
Gorgeous dress - but again, depends on the length as to whether it's suitable for a christening.
Answer:
Very lovely dress!

Hi there
I would really appreciate some help! I am going to tenerife in september and would appreciate some advice on what shoes and bags to take. I want to take only a few pairs as I never have enough room. I ideally wanted a pair of wedges for night time as they are easy to walk in but wanted a pair that would match all colours? Also I wanted to take about 1 bag for night but also face the same dilemma in what colour etc?
Also i wanted to know what others thought of wearing short uggs with skirts on hols?
I would really really appreciate some help what to take with me!
Thanks
Carly
Answer:
I would probably go for either black or tan coloured, but it depends on what sort of colours you are going to wear really x
Answer:
I'd say no to short uggs ...... you have all winter to wear uggs, get yourself some sparkly filp flops! You could get some very dodgy tan lines too not to mention sweaty feet:lol:
What about silver for evening shoes and bag?
Answer:
Absolutely no to uggs - it would be like wearing a baloclava on the beach!
As for shoes and bag, gold/metallics are big this year, there are some gorgeous gold wedges and clutches around and it genuinly goes with most things. I have a pair of gold strappies that I have worn to death because they are so versatile. And they look even better once you have a tan.
Answer:
Thanks for all your help! :)
If anyone else has any ideas, they would be more than welcome!
With referenec to gold wedges and bags, has anyone seen any nice high street ones?
Thanks again!
