OT - Babington house?

NO.1. Ask :
OT - Babington house?
OH and I want to go and stay somewhere for a night in September and Babington house is one of our considerations, I think we can afford (and like the look of) one of the .
We want the weekend to involve relaxation, vino, spa treatments (for me) and plenty of :loving: and I know some baggers have been there, so how does it rate?
Answer:
I cant help Ellie, but it may be worth PMing Jorden as I think her sister got married there?
x
Answer:
babington house is disappointing, as are most 'contemporary' country house hotels. they're unreasonably expensive (i once paid £17 for a bowl of rice krispies at the royal crescent in bath), the treatments are rarely up to much because they find it so difficult to keep their staff, and they are generally just a triumph of style over substance.
i did like both cotswold house and barnsley house, charlton house is nice if you get the right rooms and in the same part of the world as babington, and all of the hotel du vin places i've been to have been great and cheaper too.
good luck, hope this helps.
Answer:
I have stayed at Hotel du Vin in Brighton before, and had a really good time and would definitely go back but fancied something that was more in the country side than the city this time.
I know Malmaison is the sister company of HDV, but is it up to the same standard?
Answer:
I love Babington House. The first time we went (for a wedding) we stayed in one of the Coach House rooms and loved it so much that we've stayed in those the other 2 times we've been. They're 2 storey so like a little chalet and uber-cool. I felt like I had my own cubby-house (or wendy-house I think they're called in the UK) and played in there all day. The bath is HUGE (big enough for two;) ) and there are so many in-room products that they could keep me quite happy....but the treatments are fab too (book in advance to make sure you get them). Food was probably some of the best I've had at a hotel (excepting perhaps Le Manoir and Charlton House). Actually both of those are good options. I don't think Le Manoir have a spa and I prefer the Cowshed Spa at Babington to Monty's at Charlton House. But, both of them are near plenty of other things if you want to go elsewhere during the day (Charlton House is very close to the Mulberry outlet shop in Shepton Mallett).
If I was going away for a dirty weekend where I plan to spend most of the time in bed with breaks for a massage and some good food....I'd go to Babington.

    Party outfits
    Evening all,
Now, I know there's been lots of help me find a dress/shoes etc, but I need opinions pretty please :knees: Here is some cake to persuade you all :cake:
It's my friend's engagement party in a few weeks, and I'm stuck for what to wear. I really like this dress:
    - either colour really, but I think I like the black a teeny bit more...
Is it a bit too short though?
I think I want a dress, but I didn't see much that caught my eye when I went shopping today, although I was with the boy and my little sister, so I suppose that didn't help! Any ideas? Anyone seen anything nice that doesn't cost the earth?
    Thank you

    Answer:
That dress is nice! Bargain too... although I tend to think that when ASOS offer such big reductions on things like that, for me it usually means that they haven't had too much luck selling it... as in people could have bought the dress and it hasn't fit or met their expectations and therefore returned.
It doesn't look too short as-is, but because of that chiffon hem panel, it looks a little see through and doesn't contribute much to the length of the dress.
If you like it and can't find anything else, I don't think there is any harm in trying, you might be surprised.
    Answer:
Thanks Yingers, I was wondering that actually, why reduce a dress by that much; it's more than half price... and don't Darimeya dresses usually sell well? Seems according to here and eBay :D
TBH, think I was just looking for an easy option, as I haven't been die-hard looking yet - hate shopping in the rain because my hair gets a mess and I just feel like a big ol' wet mess, and then don't feel confident in picking out grat clothes. May go to Merry Hill though, as that's all indoors.
I saw a really pretty Jane Norman dress in Reveal mag I think it was, and I was shocked that it was from there because it isn't what I'd expect from there, and it was only £28  It's a white strapless number with pink/red detail and a flowery border around the bottom. Not sure the flowers were embroidered or a print though... will have to check it out IRL. I have a feeling though, at £28, it's more likely to be a print, as their dresses are usually at least £40+.
Thanks again! (here's your cake :p :cake:)

  • Did anyone queue for the Anya Hindmarch bag in Ireland?

    NO.3. ask :
Did anyone queue for the Anya Hindmarch bag in Ireland?
The people in the front of the queue were supposed to have been there at 2am:o I turned up at 8.30 but was way too late. Not bothered because I got one via the website in March and used it a lot but it's really shabby now. Would have liked a replacement. Did anyone get one?
    Answer:
I queued in Limerick at 8am, but no luck. There was people there with deck chairs :D
    Answer:
    Hi
Yeah me and my sis and friends were in the q for around 7.20 this morning. I was in shock at how many had turned up.
we all got ours and i was ticket 571.....
I am chuffed. Couldnt get over the tv cameras there and everything and people staying over night.
    Answer:
Hi there ladies. I got there at 8.20am and couldn't believe the queue. It was all the way around the Brown Thomas Building, down past the entrance to Powerscourt, down as far as the Clarendon, around the corner to the Great Outdoors and down that street then (I think). When I got there I joined the queue across from Pasta Fresca.
I wasn't going to bother but I got chatting to the girls beside me and I had a book with me too. Queued for three hours and was ticket number 961. There were some coloured ones (grey blue) coming out at the start but then it was all brown ones after that.
Some people had brought their children with them, possibly because they couldn't get a sitter - however the kids (even a two or three year old!) got tickets for bags too.
The ticket system was a good idea but you literally didn't get your ticket until you had reached the front door. I felt bad for the hundreds of people in the queue behind me, all that standing around hoping and hoping and then being turned away. The staff should have just went down the back and showed the cut off point.
I know three hours sounds mental but it flew by with the coffee / book / chat.
    Answer:
I passed by BT at around 10am. I couldnt believe the queue but it all seemed orderly. I had my sister and her kids with me so I didnt dream about joining it! Glad you got one Clarice!

picked up these 2 sparkly dresses reduced to £15 and not sure which one to wear, if indeed either of them look ok. obviously I would wear better underwear and not just the sockstrainers that I have on for the pics ha ha. was thinking maybe these shoes for a fiver from barrats would look good and break up the monochrome. opinions please girls:D
    Answer:
I like the black one but I think the white one looks a bit cheap IMO. Sorry. :cmdunno:
    Answer:
thanks. wonder why that is though as the dresses are identical apart form the colour:confused:

I'm honestly not sure. :) The black one just looks like it hangs better on you and the material looks nicer, I know you said it's the same dress but I think things can look incredibly different in another colour.
    Answer:
I prefer the black one too but I do like them both. On the other hand, I think the pink shoes will go better with the white  but will still go with black...am i making sense??!!

Great bargins though, where are they from and how much were they supposed to be?

    O/T Ordering on-line photo albuns
I am going to order some photo albums of my digital photos. Has anyone ordered any photo albums online? If so which site did you use, what did you pay and what did you think of the service / quality?
    Help and assistance much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Answer:
I've used Snapfish (an affiliate of HP), and they were great: I had an introductory deal of 20 prints free, and the quality of them (I chose glossy finish) was great. Quick delivery too... hope this helps!
    Answer:
thx I'll give them a look.
    Answer:
I used Bonus Print for a photobook around Christmas - really nice hardback book, 20 pages, think it was about £20ish. Plus you download software so you can design the pages to your specifications!
    Answer:
This won't be much use but I have seen a company advertsied on London buses who provide 'coffee table' style books with your images in from £35. I will try to remember what their name is...
