Ebay selling advice?
Haig lost a lot of weight, I have a lot, and I mean a lot of rarely worn, and in a lot of cases unworn, clothes, mostly sizes 6-14.
Do you think its best to sell stuff the same size at the same time, as I know I tend to check out sellers other items, or don't you think it matters? So say this week I do 12, next week 10 and so on.
The thing is, quite a lot of it was quite expensive, for example uworn FAMK and COH jeans, and a couple of unworn MJ jackets. All purchased for well over £100. What I did was, aimed for a size 12, so once got there I bought a load of stuff, then it was all too big before I had a chance to wear it because I lost more weight!
And any other selling tips?
Answer:
I would list in batches according to size if theres that much and then offer to combine postage, make sure you send recorded delivery though as Paypal will refund the buyer no matter what if you cant prove delivery (not postage),then include actual measurements and ideas of how to wear things,I always do this and it works even though its really obvious!!
Answer:
Thanks Lomie!
I just bagged it all up according to size and am completely shocked at how much there is! You know those big zip check bags you get for laundry etc? I ahve one for 14s, two for 12s, two for 10s, one for 8s and half of one for 6s. As well as 2 bags of miscellaneous! I want to cry!
Answer:
i'd do the designer stuff one by one and high st stuff in lots of 5 or something like that. you should give all the marc stuff to me :mwahaha:
didn't you also buy that navy/blue striped puff sleeve blazer that i have? let me know if you list it, i wouldn't mind having a back-up..
Answer:
The one I wore, um, never... I always meant to get it taken in but never did! I was wondering earlier if it would work taking it from a US8 to my size because I really love it!
It also just occurred to me that I also have 3 bags of clothes at my in laws! Hubby is astounded and contemplating taking away my credit card!
Any tips for pics? I'm thinking I should use one of those free auction template thingamajigs, does anyone know of any?
What do you think of this bag??
NO.2. ask :
What do you think of this bag??
What do you think of this for festivals? Now I realise its essentially a bum bag :cmeek: but it would be a lot easier than lugging a bag....or will I look an utter geek?!!
Answer:
I don't like it at all, sorry. You could easily get an across the body bag which would be just as practical.
Answer:
Ummmmm
:cmdunno:
Sorry!
Answer:
I don't think its all that bad...I'd go for it for the festival but would probably never use it again for anything else!
I think it would be far easier than lugging something over your shoulder :)
Answer:
Erm, no, sorry I don't like it!
Fancy dress- film
NO.3. ask :
Fancy dress- film
Hey,
I have a fancy dress occasion to attend in a few weeks and thought I had better start thinking about my outfit. The theme is movies. So basically anything goes. I know somebody who is dressing up Moulin Rogue style, somebody else is going as Alice in Wonderland and the guys are generally going as James Bond.
I want a costume that I can make myself (so not kill bill outfit etc), and I don't mind going as somebody who isn't instantly recognisable. E.g. not Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn. It doesn't have to be a main character. And I don't really want to go as a cartoon character.
Ideally I would also like to go as somebody sexy. I'm trying to think of my favourite films and who I could dress as. Hmm...
Sooo if you could help me I would be very grateful!! I am short, petite with long dark hair.
Thanks a lot :-)
Answer:
Cleopatra?
You'd need a long white shift dress, some fab jewellery, and gold sandals. Loads of eye make up.
Answer:
good idea thanks, any more suggestions? :)
Answer:
Lara Croft may be a bit obvious? But quite easy to do. Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, Jessica Alba in Sin City, Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction...
Answer:
Ooh go for Clockwork Orange- bowler hat, white jumpsuit, freaky one-eyed make-up and a pair of bovver boots.
It's easy to do, quite recognisable but not an obvious chpice and comfy too :D
ETA just re-read post, Alex from CO is not sexy :cmdunno:
Hmmm...tricky
Need fascinator/headpiece for wedding
NO.4. ask :
Need fascinator/headpiece for wedding
Hi girls,
I am attending a wedding in three weeks. It's at a town hall, an afternoon and evening affair.
I'm not yet sure what I'm going to wear dresses-wise (I have a few to choose from), but I really want to wear a fascinator or headpiece on my hair (I don't like hats).
I've been looking on the internet and most of what I've seen is bog standard feather stuff. I would really prefer to wear something a bit more "avant-garde" and interesting.
I don't have a high budget (say 50 pounds), so if you know any website or shop in London that sells interesting head gear, I would be grateful if you can point them out to me.
Thanks a lot!
Answer:
Maybe try John Lewis on oxford street.
I've saved this link from my daily candy, looks like some amazing stuff, but I reckon expensive.
Answer:
the last time i wore a fascinator i made it myself. i went to vv rouleaux and picked up some butterflies (my dress had a butterfly print) and attached them to what i think was a comb but i'm not sure, don't quite remember. it wasn't that hard, or expensive.
eta: just saw this on their website:
Our new Marylebone shop
You would not think from the weather that summer is here - but in VVR it is! The shops are in full bloom with our great new selection of vintage flowers and bridal accessories from the early sixties. These are real gems.
Our "Hat Parties" in London were a great success - don't panic if you missed them. Just take your hat into VVR and we will re-do it for you. Our Glasgow shop has just launched a fabulous wedding service which includes an enormous selection of hats and headpieces for sale and hire.
Please do browse though the various sections of the site. Many areas are constantly being updated, especially the press section, and in Atelier and Design you can download some pictures of our very special furniture, rugs, and fabrics.
Many thanks for visiting us,
All the best

Answer:
Thanks Yingers and Ananas,
Gina Foster's stuff is good but quite expensive. :(
Ananas, you know I thought about making one myself too and I live not too far away from VVR in London.
I'll pay them a visit and see what I can come up with.
Meanwhile, any other ready-to-wear recommendations would be more than welcome!
Thanks! :)

Pale bare legs
NO.5. ask :
Pale bare legs
I have recently purchased a gorgeous white skirt with navy pinstripes from HM. But now I'm too scared to wear it because of my pasty legs! Skin tights don't work on me, black fishnets don't go, which means I'm left with bare or nothing.
Do pale legs really look that awful, or am I just paranoid? I'm contemlating fake tan, but I've never tried it before I'm petrified!
Answer:
To be honest, I think fake tanned legs look great... so long as the rest of your body matches! This takes a lot of time and effort in my experience (I'm a pale girl too), unless you pay to have it done professionally. Even then, there's no guarantee it will look good!
I don't think pale legs look bad, I think it's more the fact that some people may view pale skin as not very nice, i.e. tanned skin is more desirable IYSWIM? Funny thing is, these people seem to forget that for the majority of us naturally pale skinned, pale skin is what we're meant to have, not the other way around!
I say wear your skirt, you love it and I'm sure it looks fab, white legs or otherwise!

Answer:
I've just launched myself into fake tan after a few rather disatrous attempts when younger. I used a tanning body lotion (Garnier's is really good, can't remember the name though... Summer Body I think) to buld up a bit of colour first. You could then either fake tan on top or stick with it if you don't want to be too dark.
I think pale legs can work really well with mint green and rose among other colours, but I think a bit of colour will look more flattering with white.
Answer:
I'm pale too and hate getting my legs out!
I use the Garnier moisturiser with fake tan that Arietty mentioned and it's great, gives a really natural colour after a few applications. I don't want to look really brown though, just take the edge of the whiteness.
Although most of the time, I'm too lazy to do it, so just keep covered up!
I think pale skin can look amazing, but I think it has to be that gorgeous porcelain creamy skin tone, rather than mine which is kind of blotchy, blue and translucent. :(
I do think that on the whole, white can be difficult to wear if you're pale.
Answer:
The thing is I really can't be bothered to do my whole body with the fake tan!
