O/T - calling all PA's
NO.4. ask :
O/T - calling all PA's
I hope you don't mind me asking this here, but I know there are quite a few PA's on the fashion boards....
I am currently a PA but have an interview next week for a PA position which is for two directors at an equal level. I'm guessing the question might come up about prioritising workload, i.e. if both directors gave me something urgent to do, how would I handle it?
Just looking for a few different ideas/suggestions on the best way to answer this if possible.
Thanks
MissButterfly x
Answer:
Well, in that case I'd suggest you say something like 'I would guage which of the tasks was the most pressing and prioritise that one, otherwise I would ask which one needed to be completed first'. I don't know that they'll necessarily ask you how you'd prioritise work that they both give you, I think they'll just ask general questions about how your organise yourself and your workload. Good luck!
Answer:
I agree with Lucy.
Saying that, I have been asked that question in interviews before, and the answer that seemed to please was 'I would speak to you both and let you know what my workload is. I'd check with you to see which piece of work was the most pressing.' Something like that. I think what they want to hear is that you're good at communicating and also not afraid of doing so.
Good luck at your interview!
Answer:
Hello MissButterfly,
I don't think there's any right answer to this but I agree with Selina Kyle's tactic of making a point of making sure that both directors know what the other one needs doing - I think it's important that they both know how much work the other is giving you. Hopefully they're equals rather than a senior and a junior, as that could be a bit trickier. I think your best bet is explain that you'd prioritise, keeping everyone up to date with when their work/job is likely to be completed.
And it never hurts to throw in how good you are at multi-tasking - I remember someone once asking me if I thought they'd be any good at my job - I said they'd probably be fine as long as they could multi-task...the person in question looked gloomy and said "Oh...I can't even task"...
Good luck!! ;)
Answer:
I really appreciate the help girls. I guess I know the answer really, just feeling a bit :cmdunno: about it, so wanted reassurance I was thinking along the right lines.
Thanks again.

Converse low tops SMU
NO.5. ask :
Converse low tops SMU
Can anyone tell me what SMU stands for please? thanks :)
Answer:
In our office SMU stands for Special Make Up, so a sort of limited edition type that is made especially for a certain customer, and is not offered to other stores. Does that make sense here?
Answer:
Thanks Nijntje, it does make sense in this instance.
I can't see any huge difference between the normal Converse low-tops the SMU's apart from the coloured trim.
Unless anyone else has another idea I think I'll stick with yours. Thanks again. :)
