Outfit for an evening at the Dogs

NO.1. Ask :
Outfit for an evening at the Dogs
Hi, I am going on a night out to the dogs at Belle Vue Stadium and don't know what to wear! It is a 3 course meal then watching the racing at the beginning of May. Has anyone been before and is it as dressy as the horse racing? Thanks, Sarah x
Answer:
:) No, its not as dressy as horseracing, I would go smart casual myself
Answer:
I went to the greyhound stadium in Poole and all the men were wearing jeans and t-shirt or shirt, and all the girls were smart casual. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere. I must go again!
Answer:
Whenever I've been to the dogs I've always worn jeans. It's much more casual than horse racing.
Have fun!

Answer:
Thanks!
Thanks for your replies, that's good to know! looking forward to it x

O/T a bit fashion FAO Mimicat, GATC and Lizzie B or anyone that knows about AI
    Hello,
Sorry this is a bit O/T
I booked tickets for AITBF at Fabric for me and some mates. I like dance music for a clubbing but I also love indie music, so I’m sure I’m going to like it. But I’m a bit worried that my mates aren’t going to like it. They are much more into dance music. Plus one of my mates is thinking of getting a load of her friends to come down from Manchester. So I just wanted your opinion on what it will be like. I don’t want people travelling all that way and not liking the music.
Do they tend to only have bands in one room? I notice that Digitalism and Simian Mobile Disco (I think my mates will like this sort of thing) are in the main room. All the more indie/ nu rave bands seem to be in the second room. Is that how it usually works, is one room a bit dancey and the other more indie? Or does it get more clubby later on in the evening. We plan on arriving at 11. Sorry for all the questions!
Finally a question which is fashion related, what sort of thing do you wear when you go to it? Will my usual clubbing attire (dress and peeptoe platforms) be ok? Or should I dress down?
    Cheers,
    Lamby x x
    Answer:
YEs, I think that's right. I have been to one at fabric before, and one room was def a bit more indie/punk/newwave, and the main room was much more electro. SMD and Digitalism are electro, and filthy dukes, tho they play a bit of new wave too. It will be fun and a good mix of music I think.
In terms of what to wear, the normal AITBF parties at lock and last year on the boat were uber trendy in a scruffy way, but fabric is bigger and going to attract a more mixed crowd, so I think you can probably get away with dressing up a bit more. There will be a lot of casual people there, but I am never knowingly underdressed so that won't make me dress up less iyswim!
    It will be fun!
We will have to meet and say hi

    Answer:
    Hi Lizzie,
Thanks for the info. I will tell my friends what you have told me and let them decide. I think it will be a good night. Certainly very eclectic. I’ve been listening to some music on AITBF myspace and I’ve liked all the stuff I have heard on there. I think my friends will be ok, all the Electro should keep them dancing.
I’m like you, not one to go anywhere underdressed. I think I will probably wear my silver sparkly dress and Office purple peep toes. So I’m going to look very clubby. But like you say it is Fabric, so there is bound to be a real mix of people so I don’t think I’m going to look really out of place. Do you know what you will wear yet?
We should def meet and say hi. I’ll try and get onto the Bag a bit later in the week and catch up with you on the weekend thread to arrange it.
It should be a good night; I’m really looking forward to it!
    Lamby x x
    Answer:
I think they should enjoy it, but it's not glam northern dance music clubbing if you know what I mean. Some people will be dressed up, but not in sparkly dresses and strappy heels and there will be lots of indie kids in skinnies and converse.
Like Lizzie I'm never knowingly underdressed, so I'll be pretty dressed up. Think I'm going to wear high waisted shorts, check shirt, opaques and platforms.
Very excited about digitalism and SMD, but the bands are always great as well. Because of the whole nu rave  scene, a lot of the bands last time were really dancy, so they'll probably enjoy them as well.
See you there.... I'll be the one in the red carnation!
    x
    Answer:
Yeah I’m really excited about Digitalism too Mimi. None of my friends have heard of them but like you say, I’m sure they’ll enjoy it.
Hmm maybe I shouldn’t wear the sparkly dress then. Do you think I’ll look a bit daft in it? I was actually thinking of high waisted shorts myself, I was eyeing some on TS website over the week. Or maybe just my denim hot pants. Oh I don’t know :cmdunno: I think I might pop into town one night after work and buy something new :D

    OT overdrafts and money!
hello everyone, sorry i realise this is completely OT but i trust you girls and the other boards seem really slow.
anyway, my student bank account has an overdraft of 1,400 GBP which i overdrew completely over the weekend as my rent went out by directdebit and my dad is refusing to pay his child support at the moment (a whole other story...) anyway so when i checked my account online yesterday i had an overdraft of about 1,600 GBP and obviously was unable to take out anymore money. now this morning i check again hoping that the sum i transferred before the weekend from my savings account would have arrived, but instead i find that 1,059.81 GBP has been put into my account by "Propay Credit". im a bit worried that this is some kind of loan which has been put into my account. ive tried calling the bank but they can't help apparently because its only just been put into my account. what doesn't help is that im not in England at the moment so i won't be recieving any mail. does anyone know what this "Propay Credit" business is all about? :meh: im so worried about all this. thank you for your help xx
    Answer:
I googled Propay and came up with - does that make any sense to you? it seems to be a payroll service. Perhaps you can ring them?
And there's which seems to be like a paypal or worldpay for small businesses
    Answer:
    Hi Hun
Sorry can't be much help as I have never heard from propay. I googled the and found this website:
    Hope its of some help.
    Bex xx
    Answer:
if you haven't applied for a loan of any sort i don't see how you'd be getting one put into your account
and i presume you'd know if you were being paid for work :uzzle: this is very weird!
ooh but if it's a credit card processing company it could be a refund for something?
    Answer:
 mm im thinking it might be my dad just sending money in a different way than usual. it just seems an odd figure. i jumped to conclusions as soon as i saw the money because of all those horror-stories you hear about unwanted loans etc etc.
anyways thank you for your help sofar.

    Topshop coloured skinnies
What would you wear these with? top, shoes everything!

    Answer:
    those exact ones?
i'd probably wear a plain white racerback tank, a grey or dark green waistcoat and a grey or brown cardigan. as for shoes, either brown gladiator sandals, grey or brown ballet flats or grey or brown long suede boots over them. or ankle boots of some sort, the chloé silverado ankle boots would look great.
not that i would wear those particular ones, i'd look terrifying :cmeek:
    Answer:
LizzieB has those, and they looked fab on her - well, I'm not sure if hers are the Topshop ones are not, but they're very similar if not! I'm sure she mentioned something about wearing a grey vest with them, which I think would look fab :great: (I might have made that up, but I'm sure it was her!)
I'd probably wear them dressed up for a night out with a grey longline racer-back vest, a pair of platform shoes (maybe silver or pewter metallic peeptoes?) and long layered chains or pendants. Oh, and messy hair, eyeliner, a tan and a lot of attitude
ETA - and sorry for talking about you in the 3rd person lizzie!
    Answer:
    that's ok GJ!!!!
You are absolutely right, I have those very ones. I wear mine with my grey elevator platforms and white or charcoal and grey tops.
Like your ideas for dressing them up too!
I also quite like the idea of teaming my petrol blue platforms with them for some clashing colour, though I migth look like a children's tv presenter!
