Where do you buy your underwear?

NO.1. Ask :
Where do you buy your underwear?
I'm clearing out and need some new undies! Where do you buy yours?
Answer:
Knickerbox at Ann Summers, although very pricey!

My best friend got me a gorgeous set from Lasenza for my birthday, If I lived near one I'd def get it from there over everywhere else.

Debenhams 'sometimes' have some nice bits, (My debenhams is rubbish, so am sure in a better one they'd have lovely bits!)

Dont personally buy in primark but they do have some nice stuff in there, they just dont sit right on me :cmdunno:
Answer:
MS becasue I know what their sizing is like and they have a good range. I hate having to try on loads of different bras to find my size so I stick to MS. They have loads of good t-shirt bras at the moment (perfect for summer!)
Answer:
I tend to buy sets in MS, and thongs/pants in Topshop and Primark. I have also used Debenhams and Figleaves
Answer:
MS, Primark and Debenhams.

    NO.3. ask :
    O/T: Jobs!
I've already posted a thread about this in Careers, but wanted a few more ideas and thought you lovely ladies might have some...
Anyway: in brief, I'm a mathematician, educated to MSc level with about five years' research experience. Plus I've been working as an actuarial trainee (pensions) for the past 18 months or so.
I'm not happy in my current job - partly it's because I was moved to a different team about 10 months ago and don't like my new team at all, and partly it's because it's a high pressure job as it is, and the professional exams on top of that are too much for me. If it was only a question of a few exams, I would reconsider, but there are lots and it takes around five years minimum to get through them all (and it'll be more for me, I should think!). I'm using up far too much of my holiday allowance on exam prep and I'm fed up of having to work from nine to six without a proper lunchbreak, and then come home and study.
Sooooo.... I need a new job! I want to stay in something mathematical ideally, because it's what I'm trained for. I don't want to teach and I'm not that keen on RD. I'd prefer to avoid IT - the only areas there that I'd probably be interested in would be programming and realistically I'd need to go back to uni first to do that. I'm looking for a minimum salary of around £20K as well.
So far I've only been able to come up with accountancy (which has professional exams as well, but I understand from an accountant friend that they're very different) and working for the Office of National Statistics. Both do have something in common to my current area so it's not a huge sea change.
The downside for accountancy is that auditing requires a lot of travelling (which I dislike) and the other main option (tax) doesn't seem to recruit as heavily. I know someone who works for the ONS and his advice was to think long and hard about it!
So nothing is leaping up and grabbing me as yet. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'm listening...
    :thanks:
    g_k
    Answer:
I've had some friends who've worked at the ONS g_k and they've enjoyed it, infact all my feinds (And family) who are civil servants seem to have a great time and it's fab job security, lots of holiday and feels worthwhile.
I'm a charity/education fundraiser and although I'm not mad keen on my current job, I love the line of work I'm in.
Sorry not much help am I, are there any careers that you've always fancied?
    Answer:
Geek, I really feel for you. A friend of mine who's trained as a lawyer but is now pursuing a tax career is going through much the same as you - working from 8am til 11pm (well it's one of the Big Five) and then having to study for many difficult exams which nobody seems to pass. She's had to take 6 weeks unpaid leave to study, and regularly rings me in tears. On the other hand, she knows this is her calling and will pursue it to the death.
I am not sure what other alternatives to offer. A background in maths would (at my guess) enable you to get into banking/finance if that's your sort of thing? There would still be exams and things but I think the FSA ones are not that hard? it's all hard work, I have friends who do hedge funds and merchant banking and they all work madly, for a lot of money which they don't get the chance to spend!
    Answer:
    Oh, that's good to know!
There isn't anything I've ever particularly wanted to do; that's part of the problem. I wanted to be a university lecturer for years, but got very disenchanted with academia and left.
All I want now is a job that isn't too high pressure, doesn't bore me to death, pays enough for me to cover my bills and gives me time to do some of the other things I want to do.
ETA: Thanks, PC. I've looked at some other options in finance, but I'm wary of the exact syndrome you describe - lots of money with no time to spend it! Also, I think I'd crack up under the pressure
I feel for your friend - sounds like she's in much the same position as me. Poor thing. I hope she makes it!

    Answer:
GK, the hedge fund, asset management, etc basically the Financial Services Industry, pay you a lot more but they demand a lot more out of you as well. I am in one of those dreaded broking/banking industry and I used to start at 7.30 and still be there come 12hours later:eek: I don't anymore though;) Starting salary is about £35k, I think

Im really intrigued to know what you all do for a living (or not) esp following on from the thread about what we dreamt we'd do.
I worked in financial marketing up until last November and now I work for an investment bank, its not very exciting but its fairly interesting and decent money. I am considering retraining in perhaps nutrition or being a PT.

  • I need help - holiday wardrobe on a budget!

    NO.5. ask :
I need help - holiday wardrobe on a budget!
Right!! I'm going on holiday at the beginning of May and have literally no holiday/summer wardrobe. I'm on a massive budget :(:( and need opinions on what is 'essential' to take. I have a few flip flops and a pair of birkenstocks. I have a plain black tankini, a navy with white diagonal stripes bikini from hm and a pink bikini from NL.
I know I need some summer dresses and some shorts, I'm just trying to come up with a mental list of things, I know on my budget I'm gonna be limited to places like Primarni/NL perhaps hm... Oh and by the way I have huuuge boobs :o (36E) on a size 12 frame (petite) so with bikinis I always have to buy seperates.....
If anyone has seen any bargains or can help me with things I will have to have, I would be most grateful :):):) xxx
    Answer:
Get yourself to Primark, their holiday stuff is great and so cheap you could always buy two bikinis (one to fit the top and one the bottom) if they don't sell seperates which I can't recall them doing. They have nice light kaftans which are always handy and plenty of choice of cheapo vests and shorts.
If like to read on holiday stock up on paperbacks from a charity shop, I always get mine from the RSPCA shop for 35p each.
    Answer:
I always find that linen trousers are really useful for holidays, you can get these cheaply in Primark. A neutral colour will go with most things.

Denim shorts are handy or else a neutral coloured pair.

With your boobs I wouldnt recommend Primark though, I find they don't supprt me enough (I'm a DD/E cup too).

It might help you to decide on a colour palette so that everything will be easy to mix and match on your holiday.

Don't go overboard either, I always seem to wear the same things when Im away and always pack far too much!

    Have a great time
    Answer:
    Hi Princess Laura
How long are you going for?
    - 3 bikinis may be all you need...
    Where are you going?
    - Weather and location will have a big impact on the things you need to buy.
As FashionAddict said, what's your colour scheme?
