Why do these dresses make me look like I'm wearing a sack?
I love all the tunics, mini dresses, and floaty tops - but they all make me look like i'm wearing a sack.
I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing a dress/top in gorgeous pattern, falling in love with it, trying it on, only for it to make me look deformed.
Does anyone else have this trouble?
I can't wait for the fashion to go back to fitted tops and dresses!
Answer:
Do tyou try adding waist belts where you can - they make the world of difference.
Answer:
Yeah, it just doesn't look right. :(
Answer:
does the material ' bulk ' over the belt? maybe try a smaller size dress/tunic?
Answer:
maybe it's because i haven't got much of a waist - i'm a size 8 and have hardly any curves - just a stick really.

My son is getting married at the end of May and my daughter at the beginning of August. I am 51, 5' 4" tall and have a bit of a tummy. Can anyone suggest what I could wear for each wedding? I'd like ideas for styles and colours, please. I was thinking of something floaty and flowerey. What do you think?
Answer:
hmm my mum bought a suit from wallis which was lovely but wasnt exactly floaty - was a black and cream trouser suit!
anne brooks petite in debenhams might have something summery in now?
when i last went to france i helped my friend buy a mother of the groom outfit and she is a bit taller than you with a tum and she bought a dress that had a very slight cowl neck an thickish ruched straps sort of fitted at the top then flared out a bit from below the bust
sorry am useless at describing things!
Answer:
mmm,I wouldn't go for floaty and flowery really, because I think its dated, have you thought of a structured dress? There are loads around at the moment and that would look smart and modern, but could still look dressy iyswim?Try places like Wallis and Principles who are doing some good stuff atm-maybe a shift style dress to the knee with fab heels and a fab statement hat-then you can just get a pashmina or neat jacket to wear with it depending on the weather?

kinda o/t st tropez
sorry to ask here, but thought a lot of you fashion girlies would know,..I have used the aero spry used this with the st tropez steps 1 2 but still streaky not tanned enough, is the original slap on st tropez the best ?
Answer:
Hiya L2S, I think the original is best. I have used so many over the years and always go back to it. Another way I use the lotion is by mixing a tiny squirt of it with johnsons holiday skin a few times a week and you dont have to wash it off like you would the lotion. It never seems to streak and you go darker than you would just using the holiday skin.

Answer:
 thanks Smart Blonde, i couldnt make up my mind when i bought it, thought id try the spray for a change but i'll give it a couple more attempts go back to the original, thanks for the tip
Answer:
I think the mousse is the best. I hate the lotion, can't get on with it at all, never have! Same with Fake bake cream, I've got loads of that in my drawer that i just don't use, mousses all the way for me :p
Answer:
Another mousse fan here, it dries so quickly and is a piece of piss to put on.
Spy copy

Spy copy
I just found this - claiming to be leather, £20.
I've never ordered from them, don't know anything about them - just thought I'd give you the heads up!
Answer:
That looks interesting. The bag looks more elongated than the spy, and the secret compartment looks like it diesn't close, but then if you like the style of the spy this looks quite good for on a budget :) I have never heard of the site either.

The halterneck cream silk one with pink flowers on it that sold out online immediately and never made it to the shops?
Well, I have found a substitute from Miss Selfridge :D It's not quite the same, but it's much better on that the TS one would likely have been and I love it. The pic does it no justice at all; it's beautiful IRL.
Buuuuut.... what the 'eck do I wear on my feet? I've never worn a maxi dress before and while I'd love to think of wearing it barefoot while wafting along a tropical beach, the chance of that happening is vanishingly remote! I'm not sure about heels with maxis; was vaguely thinking of matt gold or pewter flat sandals; black might look a bit heavy perhaps....
Any ideas? Oh, and the dress is a lighter cream that it looks in the pic.

Answer:
I like the sound of metallic sandals or flat ballet pumps :)
Answer:
Gorgeous dress, what length is it on you because I think that determines the style of shoe with a maxi dress. It also depends if you've got thick or slim ankles, or am I just being too pedantic :cmdunno: I've worn a lot of maxi dresses in my day, still do from time to time :D :wasfield:
Answer:
It's just-skimming-floor length on me - probably skims the arch of my feet. I think I have  ankles - don't feel the need to hide them but don't particularly want to show them off either...

Answer:
Oh FFS you've got great ankles, not great chunky ones like I've got  I think wedges would look nice too. I tend to wear espadrilles wedges with mine or metallic Havs.
I agree that black would be too heavy. Like the sound of matt gold or pewter sandals :D
