what to wear...

NO.1. Ask :
what to wear...
..for lunch?
sounds a little dim, i know, but this coming friday, myself and friends have big celebrations planned (end of exams), which involve a long, boozy lunch (lasting to well into late afternoon) before getting all dressed up for a night on the town.
trouble is i just have no inspiration as to what to wear for lunch! sounds silly i know, but as a student, day time is strictly casual, but as photos etc will be taken (more as drunken evidence i think!), i really want to make a bit of an effort, although obviously not full time glam.
any style suggestions are greatly appreciated, my mind has gone blank- too much revision i think!
xxohara
ps - lunch wont be anywhere overly smart or anything, its more for me and the photo evidence!
Answer:
You say it isnt a posh do! Could you get away with a nice pair of jeans, some heels and a top. Perhaps dress it up with jewellery or a funky belt.
Im sure whatever you wear will be fine, your friends will just be glad you are there!

Re: what to wear...
Maybe jeans and a pretty top with a smart jacket :) If youre going to be sat around a table it's the top half you need to make stand out :) Make sure your hair's done and your mascara is smudge proof :D
Answer:
I agree with Fairy Poppins - jeans, pretty top/camisol with a blazer - that basically describes my usual outfits lately - has seen me through many a drunken lunch!!

Really like it and especially love the colour :yay:
    Answer:
Love it - I really like the retro style and the colour's fab
    Answer:
Oh you do? I went turqoise mad in TKMaxx yesterday and it does look nice on but I wasn't sure, i got turquoise shoes and a top as well :o
But it may have been a spur of the moment thing as I'm not 100% sure.....

    NO.3. ask :
A dress / skirt like this (so unusual)
Ok, I come across this by fluke but I adore the way this dress is made. Is it something strictly for the catwalk or could it pulled off. I am thinking the latter. The next issue is - where the heck do I find one without having to remortgage my home
    Answer:
I actually quite like it, more the bottom part rather than the top... it's really unusual and I like the colour material... but I think it would be difficult to wear and I don't think I could carry off something like that though :cmdunno:
    Answer:
It is unusual and could work - I couldn't wear it as I'm too pear-shaped, the bulk would not do me any favours! But it's something I imagine the high street would make look cheap if it was copied. I haven't seen anything like it, I think the only people likely to copy it are Zara - they do the quirky tailoring/structure thing very well.
I would probably suggest going to a tailor to get a version made if you love it so much, it's ruching, in essence, so I don't think it would be that difficult and you could pick a nice heavy pewter silk (the high street would be bound to make it in polyester satin - only suitable for linings IMO!) which would maintain the "expensive" look of it.
    Answer:
Just spotted this on the TS site- not the same colour but almost there :cmdunno: :o

    Answer:
Thx for your replies - in particular the last one - I like the one from TS so I'll go n try one on.

    NO.4. ask :
    yes or no?
Recently got a lovely bottle green blazer thing from warehouse and I'm experimenting with wearing it with different things. If anyone could please offer me a yes or no on this
outfit . Lately I've been looking at wardrobe and thinking it's pathetic. I'm now trying to expand it and make it a bit more interesting as well as a better representation of my personality. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.:)
    Answer:
    Not loving the skirt....
And where's this bottle green blazer? Eh?!
    Love
    The Green Fiend :D :D :D
    Answer:
Sadly the colour isn't showing up very well in the picture, but it is lovely irl.
 That is my favourite skirt! Usually I wear it with a jangly belt, tights and boots. But fine, fine, you don't like it.
    :)

I am just a one woman campaign against denim skirts (unless theyre extremely simple styles) - it's just me :)
I do love the jacket though, and the ribbon... *sigh* I love green.
    Answer:
im not sure that the skirt and the blazer go great together..sorry!
how about just starting off by pairing the blazer with perhaps some well fitting jeans, and complimenting the colour with maybe a V neck jumper (sorry, im obsessed with these right now!) in a different shade of green, maybe shade? or continue the theme jewel type colours with a deep purple jumper? i think the black t shirt underneath just makes the outfit a little dark. dont be afraid of colour!! (i am slowly learning this,)

    NO.5. ask :
    Chunky wooden beads
Anyone seen any on the high street? I am looking for ones similar to those in Febs Vogue and Elle. Cheers.
    Answer:
    Blonde
I saw some only yesterday in Topshop in Dublin. They are VERY chunky though - big square shaped beads, plain mid wood colour, each bead about 1/2 inch square, and they're on a plain string with one bead approximately every 2 inches on the string.
They're too big for me, but perhaps if you are tall you could carry them off? They're about below chest length, and I remember thinking they'd be nice on somebody tall with maybe a smaller beaded wood/multi set wrapped around the neck?
I've been looking myself and they're the only ones I've seen so far. I'm still lusting after the ones Trinny has been wearing recently.
    Answer:
OOh - thanks. they sound exactly like what I am looking for although I didn't see them in TopShop here today. Yes, i am tall so I think I can wear chunky jewellery - I havn't seen Trinny's...you don't have a link do you?
    Answer:
Nope unfortunately, but she wore them in the episode that Tricia was in if that's any help. The beads in them are about the size of my thumbnail, and they're a marbley looking wood. Gorgeous, and i've been searching for something like them since I saw them to no avail. I'm sure she probably got them in Butler Wilson or somewhere though as they always seem to recommend that place in their books for jewellery.
Happy hunting for the beads, and they looked like new stock in the Dublin branch so you should be able to track them down somewhere, good luck!
    Answer:
Ooh I bought my friend some beads like that for Xmas, they were just like Trinny's, a gorge blue colour, got them in Topshop, Oxford circus.
