    Hello,
I've just found out my best mate who lives abroad is expecting a baby.
I really want to buy her a gift to show how happy I am for her, but I'm worried that it's not the done thing (she's my first really close friend to get pregnant).
She's having a baby shower (in Spain!!) in June so I think that's when I'd buy baby clothes etc, but I was thinking of buying something for her maybe just flowers.
    Anyone have any advice?
    Mimi x
    Answer:
A lady I work with recently sent her best mate a gorgeous bunch of flowers to say congratulations when she announced she was pregnant. Perhaps you could arrange something like that? Not sure how you'd go about arranging that abroad though, but I'm sure there's a way.
    Answer:
I bought my friend some earrings when she got pregnant - I wanted to get something just for her.
    Answer:
oh gosh dont worry about the done thing, if she's your best friend she will know the thought love and sentiment behind the gesture. its lovely to have friends as thoughtful as that, and coming from a one-time pregnant lady it is so nice to have a bit of extra specialness when your hormones are all over the place.
i'm not sure if advice req'd was just for should i/shouldn't I, but re. the gift; flowers are lovely idea, also some pampering goodies would be just the jobby too - but remember about pg ladies and certain oils aren't recommended.
congrats for you and your friend! tis lovely news :)
    Answer:
Thanks for your helpful replies - I was hoping it would be okay!
As she's abroad I thought I could send a little pack of nice things she might not be able to get in Spain and some pampering stuff.
Could you recommend the kind of things a very recently pregnant lady (she's definitely a girl really!) would appreciate - I was thinking a candle / bath oil (will check the dodgy ones). I think it's important she looks after herself and feels looked after, because I imagine it must be a bit scary as your body changes.
I think I'll probably slip some jewellery in as well as it will be quite light to post, but nothing too expensive.
I'd love to send flowers, but I'm worried what they'll actually be like.
    Any suggestion much appreciated.
I probably won't reply for a bit as I'm going out the office, so please don't think I'm being rude.

    NO.4. ask :
how to make leather shoes untight???
    hi there
i just wanted to know does anyone know what products or what can be done to make lether shoes untight as i bight a pair of court shoes but the bit where the toe is, is a little tight but when i got a bigger size it was too big? is there any spray to make the leather stretch or anything i can do? i have kinda wide feet but i want to buy a pair of court shoes that actaully foit and feel comfy can anyone suggest a place for me to buy pointy short shoes? plssssssssssssss
    thanx
    Answer:
Most shoe shops do a leather stretching spray. I got one from Clarks recently, although it isn't very effective yet.
    Answer:
The best thing to loosen shoes I find is to just wear them and grin bear the pain... this works best as I work in a carpeted office and never usually have to walk much throughout the day.
I also have a spare pair of shoes at work anyway so I can swap them if they get too painful... (they are anti-static shoes provided by my company... don't ask).
    Answer:
I had a pair of tight leather courts stretched once at the cobblers but to be honest it didn't help much. So instead while I was at home, I'd put on a pair or two of thick socks, put the shoes on and then just wear them while I was sat at my computer or watching tv. Not very attractive but it did the trick!
    Answer:
My nana, (very wise lady) Says as long as the shoes are not pale in colour!!! Stuff with damp tissue, allow th dry. I've done it loads and it has always worked for me.;)

How much to replace heel on boots?
Do any of you lovely ladies know how much it is roughly to get your heel replaced on shoes?
I have some kitten heeled boots, and only worn them twice and the heels worn right down!
    Thanku
    x
    Answer:
I pay six pounds to get mine done.....for either metal or rubber.
I had a pair of shoes that wore down after wearing them twice, I told the shoemaker, and he said that the heels on some new shoes are v soft, and if youre wearing them on the pavements it destroys them.
    xxx
    Answer:
I think the last ones I had done were £3.95 for plastic ones, but they have lasted very well.
Sometimes I am lucky enough to get spare tips with a pair of shoes, but I haven't used any of mine yet... I think the shoe repair guy charges about £1-2 to swap them out though... I'd do it myself but I don't have the correct tools or the expertise and i'd be really annoyed if I damaged my shoes just to save a couple of £ and a trip to the repair guy.
    Answer:
thanks for your posts girlies! I think I'll try and get the metal ones:cool:
    Answer:
Just wanting to ask a similar question!
I have black kitten heel boots and the whole heel came off but when I brought it round to the repair shop, he said he couldnt properly mend it. I think its because the boots are soft leather ie they're just pull up one, no zips are anything and it was hard to get down to the sole, to nail it on again.
Is there anyway these could be properly fixed? He glued it on and I've worn them once since but I dread wearing them and they break whilst I'm out!!
