Clothes to go backpacking!!

Clothes to go backpacking!!
Hello Everyone!
Im heading off for a spot of travelling in easter and should be going to all the popular backpakers destinations such as sydney, auckland, fiji singapore etc for about 2months.
I wanted some advice on what to pack.We would be spending about a week in every place we visited. Would I need some proper walking shoes? What else should I take? I have so far purchased a 65l backpack. I dont really fancy filling it and only want to take the bare essentials..any ideas?
thanks in advance

Answer:
Lucky you, have a great time!!
You're going to a mixture of hot and cold places, so you'll need a mixture of stuff. Take cotton stuff not man-made fibres as some of these are hot places where you'll be sweating a lot. Those Teva sandals are great. Tank tops, T-shirts, shorts, sarong, cargo pants, again cotton underwear, a fleece, swimming cozzy, bikini. Walking shoes might be a good idea for trekking around Aukland in autumn.
Less in more and you can usually pick stuff up cheaply in markets when you're travelling. You'll find most places are cheaper than the UK.
Answer:
I think it'd be a good idea to take clothes you can layer so tank tops and vests for when its hot and your walking about and zip up hoodies etc. when your on the plane or going from a to b. I think it'd be a good idea to take light clothes like cargo pants and linen pants as they won't weigh a ton and plus they'll kep you cool in hot weather. I wouldn't take more than 2 pairs of shoes, including the ones your wearing because you don't want to lug loads around. Also remember the essentials such as sunscreen and shades since your going to so many hot places.

If it were me I'd forget all cotton and go for some kind of wicking base layer. I'd want something that will pull the sweat away from your body and wash and dry easily and quickly.
Definately get some good comfy walking shoes and some good walking socks if you plan to walk a lot - your feet will thank you (remember to break them in before you go).
I'd also get to some outdoor type shops and ask advice.
Answer:
I would say take clothes that fold up really small!!!! vest tops, cargo pants, thin hoodies and some good walking boots and comfy sandals you can walk in! To be honest I wouldnt take too much cos you'll find loads you'll want to buy!!!
Also, just a thought, be aware if you're going to any Muslim countries that you should cover up as a matter of respect :) I wouldnt worry about taking any clothes for that purpose as there'll be loads of places to buy them!

Just put my first ever items up to sell on ebay!
After months of trying to decide whether it was worth the effort I've finally got round to giving ebay selling a go. I bought quite a lot of stuff from ebay but never been sure that selling would be worth the aggro.
After some encouragement from Mr H I sorted out some stuff I thought was worth selling and I've just put up my first three items. I'm only selling a few at first just to get a feel for the process, so to speak.
Do ebay email you when someone bids on your item or will I have to keep checking in? I'm getting quite excited about the prospect of seeing people bidding on my item.:)
    Answer:
Ooh, well done! I do love selling on ebay as i get quite excited to see if someone bids!
I'm not sure if you can activiate your account to receive emails when someone bids but you definitely receive emails when your item has ended. I dont mind checking in every now and then to see if my items are selling. I have just put about eight books up for sale!
    Answer:
Good luck! You don't get emails when anyone bids but I check a lot, nice to see how many people are watching also! Hope they do well.
    Answer:
Good luck with your items Hesper!
It's very exciting checking in each time to see how many bids/watchers you've got. :)
I like to treat buyers as I would like to be treated, ie don't rip them off with excessive postage costs, keep in contact - I always email to say when I've posted something out, and lastly always leave feedback straight away - Hope you do well!

    Answer:
Ooh, it will be quite exciting checking in to 'my ebay' this week when I get in from work to see if anyone is watching or bidding. There's a couple of things I'm watching myself as well.
I've worked out my PP charges just by looking at what other people have charged but I think I've been pretty fair - it does put me off buying when the PP is excessive. I've got a pretty good idea because I send out parcels at work regularly. But I want to make sure I cover my costs as well.
Really hope someone bids on at least one thing - it will keep me entertained this week!

    Gold sequin vest top
I recall reading a while back that there were several of you who wanted a gold sequin vest top. I remember because i really wanted one too!
I don't know if anyone found one, but ive just spotted one in this wks More magazine (not mine, my sisters!) which is gorgeous. Its from Warehouse and is £40. I don't think its out yet, but i'll be ringing to check first thing tomorrow!
Ive been trying to upload a picture that i took into tinypic, but its not letting me, any tips?
    Thanks,
    Anna*
    Answer:
Thanks for saying that, I've been looking for a gold sequinned vest for ages :)
Do you know if its just a normal vest or does it have a racer back? And is it on the website yet? I haven't been able to get on the Warehouse website for ages though :(
    Answer:
Its not on the website yet. So i think it means its probably not out yet.
Im not sure about the back, it actually might be halterneck, from what i can see from the photo.
    I'll keep you posted!

    Answer:
    Kookai have one - it's #55.00
Haven't seen it IRL, but it's advertised in Cosmo this month. Looks lovely, and doesn't look like it's got a racer back.
    Answer:
Both of those tops sound lovely, if anyone has the magazine pictures they could scan into their computer that would be great as I am staying away from the shops this week

where you can buy the brand PPQ Cotton USA in London or online? There is a great skirt by this brand in the Sunday Times Style mag today....
    thanks!
    Answer:
    Hi,
I guess PPQ Cotton USA is the same as just PPQ?
Cos I have bought PPQ stuff from the designer sale in Brick Lane that happens a few times a year, but that's samples or older stock mainly.
For new season, I'm not sure, but I have a PR directory here at work, you could try ringing their PR for stockists... It's Purple 0207 439 9888
    Hope this helps
    Answer:
If it is PPQ then Selfridges have stocked it in the past, but I'm not sure if they do now.
