black waxed skinny jeans - yes or no
bought myself a pair of skinny nearly shiny black waxed skinny jeans today. was thinking they might look quite cool with sort of dressed down going out looks, such as a skinnyrib vest top and casual heels. or have I finally lost my mind? are they strictly the domain of teenage size 6's who didnt have a pair the first time round?:faint:
Answer:
both PC and i have the waxed superfine skinnies so no, i don't think you're insane
Answer:
I think they are cool. I was trying on an All Saints pair a couple of weeks ago, still thinking

Toe post sandals
NO.2. ask :
Toe post sandals
1 Attachment(s) I have found myself uncontrollably drawn to these toe post sandals... I think it's the colour and am thinking they will look great for the summer.
I'm not sure that the bells do anything for me... especially if they jangle... but I reckon I can plier them off if necessary.
What do you reckon? They're from Redoute and with the right code, I should be able to pick them up for about £15 or so.
Answer:
Definitely like them!
I bought some like that in a couple of colours last summer and got a lot of use out of them. Someone (forgive me, I can't remember who you are to credit you!) suggested putting vaseline on the toe post to soften it for the first few wears and it really worked.
Answer:
Ohmigod! Please no sandals - I have only just got over the stress of trying to find suitable sandals for last year!!!!;) ;)
Have they got any other nice ones in, angrymincepie? ;)
Answer:
What am I saying? Yingers I mean, not angrymincepie!
Answer:
heh heh! I got a bit confused when I read your first reply triscca!
They've got loads of sandals on redoute at the moment... these were the only ones i like though... they also come in purple, silver and orange. The usual price is £24, which I think is reasonable for a pretty leather pair like these!
They also have some nice green sequin toe posts, but they have a silly sling back strap on them and I don't like that... I wish they had them without the strap.
3/4 length jeans + boots dilemma!
NO.3. ask :
3/4 length jeans + boots dilemma!
In a fit of madness I bought myself a pair of indigo 3/4 jeans with turn-ups today (£7 in the Dottie P sale plus 15% for being a student - I couldn't really argue!) and very nice they are, too.
Question: do I need to keep them for summer or is there a way I could wear them with boots just now? I know the style is to have jeans tucked into boots but the boots I have are fitted to my calves so there's no room for the turn-ups.
a) Can I wear the turn-ups just over the jeans or will that just look weird/like Puss in Boots
b) I've got a credit note for office burning hoel in my pocket - should I try and get slouchy boots or faux Fryes or what?
Cheers m'dears :)
Answer:
Nooo don't tuck your jeans into your boots! Well, I don't wouldn't anyway.
I wear turn up jeans with boots all the time... Love it! I'm actually quite an odd shape and feel quite lucky as I can get away with it.
My fave boots to wear are kitten heel pointy black boots... they should be calf or knee length too as ankle boots would look total wrong.
I'd also re-think your boot selection, fryes are near over (never liked them much anyway, sorry) and some slouchy boots can look a bit chavvish (again, sorry)... I would prefer slouchy to frye though.
I say go for it!
Answer:
I tried on my (non-chavvy ;) ) slouchy boots with the jeans but they leave a wee gap that looks silly, so you're right about the boots having to be calf/knee length - I've got a pair on just now that are a chocolate brown with a funny "hour-glass" kinda heel (best way I can describe it) - they're not Sienna-Miller height of fashion but quite funky (and since I got them in the Shelley's sale in the summer for £3, I'm not about to start complaining! ).
I'll maybe wear this combo into town tomorrow and have another rake through the Office sale (do we see a pattern emerging? ;) ) to see if I can find anything that goes better...
But keep those ideas coming, please! :)
Answer:
Those boots sound cool... I can imagine them looking quite funky with the turn up jeans... and who wants to look like sienna miller anyway?! (not me :o )
Answer:

Nah, me neither - the trouble with following someone else's style is that you tend to look and feel like a second-rate copy.
Probably why I'm hving such trpuble with this 3/4 jeans and boot combo - cos I'm drawing on what I've seen other people wear, rather than just going with my gut instinct.
So does everyone else turn-up rather than tuck?
Corsets
NO.4. ask :
Corsets
How much smaller should a corset be compared to your actual size. I've seen a couple of underbust suspender corsets on Ebay that I like the look of, but fully tightened, they are both 4" smaller than my wife's waist size. Obviously there will be some adjustment in the lacing and a corset is designed to be quite snug, but is 4" just too much to expect?
Answer:
You can increase the amount of tightening with corsets by 'training' over time. Im not sure what a starting point for inch loss might be, but the back bit doesnt have to be fully closed, in fact it would be bad to be able to fully close it right away as that leaves no possibility for further tightening. A gap of anything up to 4-5" across the laces is fine - though any bigger than that and it starts to look like you bought it too small and cant fit in!
Also bear in mind that while you can compress your waist a fair bit the rib cage will only go so far so it needs to fit around there as well.

Answer:
4 inches is about right, my corset is 4 inches smaller then my waist and I can do that completely up, although slightly makes you like this:eek: Is great though. If it is too big, you don't get much effect but too smaller and you gape too much at the back.
Answer:
Has anyone actually done the corset training as described on the link Jeyene left?
Answer:
Thanks for the help. I can't look at that web site at work though :(
I'm more inclined to bid now I know it's likely to fit her.
Apologies for another sizing thread but ..... DG shoes anyone???

Apologies for another sizing thread but ..... DG shoes anyone???
I'm sorry - I know these are incredibly boring but does anyone have any experience of Dolce Gabanna shoe sizes? I've seen a pair of shoes on eBay that I love but not too sure on the sizing. TIA :)
Answer:
I have had 3 pairs of D+G shoes and I take a size 37 which is a size 4. The sizings dont seem small nor big. Just perfect. I love them :)
Answer:
Hi- I have two paris of DG and find the fit tends to be on the small size i.e for narrowish, deliate little tooties like mine:)
Think someone told me once Italian shoes tend to be like this, while British sizes are more generous- could be wrong though!
Answer:
I have 2 pairs of DG shoes, one pair is a size 4 and the other a size 5 - I'm a size 4 all the time. The size 4's are a perfect fit and only hurt when I do alot of walking - (high heels) and my size 5's are more casual and comfortable, I have plenty room in them.
Can you post a link to the shoes you are thinking of buying?
Answer:
Thanks girls. I might go for them then.... Sorry Jillypie, I won't post a link until the auction is over - I don't want to tempt fate - I posted a link on an item I wanted before and was then outbid, possibly by another bagger!!!! ;) Wish me luck!
