Check IPs of all these people, you'll find that some match. Having a convo with yourself, and even saying you want to meet yourself is a bit weird !

This cant be right can it?
NO.2. ask :
This cant be right can it?
UPS have tried to deliver me a package today. I wasnt in to get it but they have left me a note etc...
I paid $84 for the goods and a furthre $20 for the postage, so £104 in total. Thats about £56.
UPS are charging me £22.99 customs? thats almost 50%!!!!!
It seems strange to me that it has come in at a figure ending in 99p...
Is this correct? if not can I dispute it?
I am never ordering anything from the US again! it has been a complete nightmare!:(
Answer:
Bella is our expert here!
It sounds plausible though because you don't just pay customs duty, you also pay VAT and a UPS handling charge.
O/T I wish UPS would always ring up and ask if I'd like to pay this charge by card. Sometimes they do but most of the time they just turn up at the door and I have to remember in advance that I'll be needing some cash to hand and I have to guess how much it will be.
Answer:
I once ordered from the talika site, which came to only about £20. The package came from hong kong(which i didnt know) and it charged me a £15 extra! Which is like 75%, it pissed me off so much. I didnt do much about it but now i know not to order stuff from abroad, or be more careful
Answer:
Even by UPS's standards of highway robbery that's steep. I paid £12.60 on my last package containing $124 of goods. I will only order from the US if they don't use UPS now, the US Post Office (USPS) is miles better.
Answer:
Hello,
I got over charged recently from an order from the US, apparantly I got charged at a rate of 26% instead of the usual 12/13%, which was a nasty shock.
I had to write a letter of complaint after making a couple of phone calls and I got a refund in the post, their explanation was that certain goods are subject to this rate at the moment (no idea why) and they are slapping it on lots of things, rather than checking which items are liable. (textiles aren't so they shouldn't be charging it on them)
Hope that helps.
Chav-tastic
NO.3. ask :
Chav-tastic
Hiya...
I hope I don't offend anyone here or that this doesn't turn into a bunfight over what's chav and what's not... as that is not my intention :)
My mate's mate is going to a chav party (it's probably the same one I heard about which co-incides with the Goldie lookin' chain gig @ the cambridge corn exchange - which i'm going to :o :D :D :D)
Anyway, she's asked me to give some idea of what to wear (like i'd know  :p ) and I thought i'd post this thread to see what chav-tastic ideas people have.
My imagination doesn't really stretch beyond anything burberry check, fake gucci girly dior, mini bowling bag heres, slouchy pirate boots and big gold jewellery... perhaps even ponchos (market stall ones though!)
Your suggestions are appreciated... cheers!
Yingers :)
Answer:
I want photo's of this!
Oh, and the pulled back hair into a really high ponytail, is always good.
Just go as Vickey Pollard? Those Parka's that have a split hood seem very popular, in larish pink colours.
Answer:
ooo that sounds like a good laugh :) i think thick dried up white eye shadow with a really thick line of black liquid eyeliner and no eyebrows with the pulled back gelled hair would give the look :p
Answer:
Those hoodies with writing on them-the market version though.
Argos clown pendant (hate these!)
Socks over trousers
Think you mentioned the rest though!
Answer:
I'd wear those enormous fluffy boots!
Buying Vivienne Westwood?
NO.4. ask :
Buying Vivienne Westwood?
Those of you who've been around here a while have probably heard me sighing* about wanting to own some classic VW at some point or another. *Also wailing, sobbing, opining....
So to put you out of your misery I'm thinking of actually saving up, whipping out my plastic and doing so in a few months time. But I need some advice, because I never buy designer stuff and it's quite terrifyingly expensive (for me).
So. A couple of close friends are marrying their respective partners in the autumn, making it a good time to buy a special outfit. I want to get a suit (probably trousers + jacket) rather than a dress as I want something that I'll wear, for, ooh years to come.
Questions are:
Different "labels" and pricing: Have any of you bought VW? I don't think I could stretch to Gold Label, so if anyone has any experience of tailoring from Red Label please shout now.
Sizing Does anyone know what the sizing is like? I'm a very medium sized 5ft 7, 10-12ish but definitely not petite type. Fairly broad of shoulder and chest. The only people I know who wear her stuff are of the tiny/petite variety so I'm a bit concerned.
Sales Obviously I'm too late for the January sales. Are there any between now and September that anyone knows of? Or any particularly good outlets to use for discount (other than the VW boutiques?)
Other designers Am I barking up the wrong tree? I really love VW's stuff for that quintessentially good tailoring with a twist feel. Are there any other up-and-coming designers I should consider for a signature suit? Of the designers I've come across in magazines, the only other one that appeals is Viktor Rolf - I like what they do with the oversized detailing but I fear that at my height I may be drowned (and they're not exactly bargainous).
Any thoughts? I don't ask much do I? Any thoughts most gratefully appreciated.....
Answer:
Hi OJO
I'm the same height as you but more on the 12-14 side and I find Vivienne Westwood sizing is fine. Some of the shirts I have are different sizes but that's mainly to accommodate my chest
I don't know where you live but Vivienne Westwood often holds sample sales in Battersea (watch out for the ads in the Evening Standard) but other than that I've never seen her stuff in discount outlets, it's mainly in her own shops or in large department stores.
Hope this is of some help to you

I LOOOOOVE vivienne westwood clothes, especially the suits. They really are suits with a twist like you say. I had one which I bought from a vintage shop in australia years ago and I wore it until it no longer resembled clothing and I keep meaning to buy another one (or two) but I am so hard on my suits that I try them on and then can't justify the price. I tried on a gorgeous pinstripe jacket and skirt about 18 months ago and it looked amazing but it was very snug in the waist and I was worried about practicalities of this during the day. Also it only looked right if you didn't wear a shirt underneath it and my boss has a problem with cleavage. You have inspired me to have another go though as I am just soooo bored of run-of-the-mill suits. I am in Hobbs hell. I often think about that suit ...... which is a sure sign I should have bought it.
Funnily a workmate has a similar (ish) suit from Whistles so I am going to check them out (not in the same league though).
VW clothes are amazing quality, particularly the winter suits as the fabrics are beautiful and the tailoring works better with heavier fabrics IMO.
AA - thanks for the tip on the Battersea sales - I will keep an eye out for them.
Re Viktor Rolf, they are great designs/catwalk looks but very weird sizing. They are not at all suitable for curvy girls IMO. I ordered a dress from NAP and it was huge and just straight up and down which is not what the picture looked like. I didn't bother with a smaller size as it was clear that it still wouldn't have fit me properly - it looked like a Queen E kind of dress when it was on - blugh. (It is the grey one with a deep V and black satin ribbon if you're interested). i suppose, if you think about Tilda Swinton, then it shoudl have occurred to me that their clothes were nto designed with me in mind.
I really want to try Narciso Rodriguez as his clothes look like they will look wonderful on me - but probably too sexy and way tooo expensive.
Also, Michael Kors is supposed to be nice - in that classic American kind of way. It doesn't sound like what you are looking for.
Any other places with interesting suits ??? I have yet to find them here. I have a couple of shops in Australia where I stock up when I am back there as they make suits which are conservative enough not to raise eyebrows in my legal circle but have enough interesting features that I don't feel totally frumpy.
Answer:
Thanks both of you. I'll have to start buying the Evening Standard regularly to look out for those sample sales. Though I did think samples were generally in teeny model sizes....
AA - I'm relieved to hear that VW's sizing does accommodate real bosoms, not just create them from nothing.
Elliecat, I empathise with your "conservative suit but still looking like yourself" dilemma.
Luckily I don't work in the sort of profession that requires a suit so (semi-sadly ;) ) I don't have to wear one for work very often at all. But I do actually like tailoring - I think it suits me, both in terms of flattering my build and my personality. (In my younger days I used to put together amazing outfits which mixed, say a very fitted vintage military jacket with more feminine stuff). These days I'd like a VW to make a statement for a really "put together" look. Not necessarily keen on flashing my cleavage though...
Anyway, I'll have a look at Narciso Rodriguez - I think Michael Kors might be a tad too conservative for my purposes.

I work just round the corner from the VW shop on Davies street - they have a sale on RIGHT NOW!
Which boots shall I get??
NO.5. ask :
Which boots shall I get??
Ok, can't decide whether to get....
some dark teal/ turquoise suede round toed boots with a kitten heel, they're in the Dune sale for £30 but sold out in my size so I'd have to order them from another store, pay postage and they might not fit - sorry no pic but some of you have probably seen them, happy cat uk I know you have ;)
or these from Faith, they're reduced by £20 in store so are only £45 and nicer than they look in the picture
or neither cos it's summer soon  and put the money towards a mini ipod
.... or both??
What does everyone think?? Ta x
Answer:
Get both pairs, and the ipod! Not much help am I?
I think that maybe the Faith one's are the safest option. At least you know they fit etc. They'd probably go with more being the colour that they are.
Answer:
Get both pairs of boots, and just a cheaper mp3? Unless you need like is it 5,000 - 10,000 songs?
I really like the faith pair, but I'm a sucker for great coloured boots. Hence, why I have a pair of turquoise boots :yay:
Answer:
Thanks ladies, have had a think about it in the bath  and think I might get the faith ones, and a mini ipod sometime in the near future. The Dune ones are cool, but the Faith ones would go with more of the clothes I have so should go for the more practical choice...
Answer:
don't get a mini ipod  get a proper ipod, it's much better value per gb ;)
