Rainwater is it safe to drink?

Ask:
Rainwater is it safe to drink?
Hi,
I live in Chile and some people have have told me is is not safe to collect and drink rainwater. They say this is because the body can not absorb rainwater as rainwater is H202.
They also said that the body cannot aborb water from melted snow yet they say the well water is good to drink.
I find this very stange as I grew up in Australia and lived where the only water we had was water collected from Rain.
Aside from the obvious issues of risk contaminants from pollution is there any other possible dangers? ...and is it possible that the body would not be able to absorb rain water as opposed to well water?
thanks in advance for your insights on this
Steve.
Answer:

Rainwater is it safe to drink?
hello.
iam just putting in my two cents.
well we all breath the same air, and i would'nt
trust the water from the rain at all. about two years ago i was caught out in the rain wearing nothing but a tank-top and shorts, it was heavy
rain and i only had to walk two an a half blocks.
oh my god, when i got home and towel dried off..
the towel was filthy with dirt.
just 5 hours before, i had shower'd and pretty'd
myself-up for a barbeque. so that dirt was'nt from me, from the rain... so would you drink?
in letter you mention a well. most well water is
treated some where down the line, and if some rain water got into the well, iamsure the negative materials would diposite to the bottom,
i would hope.
iam only saying that because i have drank well water before, and it was good, real good tasting
crisp, cold and clean tasting. but i did ask the owners was it treated, the reply was yes a small
tablet was droped in monthly. but they had only
started treating the water about 20 years. before that no. but due to pollution, now to be on the safe side they treat it them.
on the other hand test it... put a copper bowl out-side, see what happens to it.
p.s. if iam correct, when i was in Australia (went all-over everywhere there) the rural areas
the CATCH-BEDS (rainwater was collected) have solid clay bottoms, i forget why it was a good thing, but it was. besides some o the bestasting water, came from a clay pitcher from mexico.
well ive bored you enough.
have a good day
