Cocaine abuse

Cocaine abuse
Hi there, I have been a recreational cocaine user for 5 years now. The first few years I used about twice a month, occaisionally binging. The past 1 year 5 months I have used almost everyday, snorting about 0.5 grams per day. I recently quit but am now worried that my nose will collapse. What are the telltale signs? How much cocaine does one have to use to have this happen typically? How does one approach this subject with their doctor? My doctor is not very friendly and I am not very comfortable with him. I want to chagnge doctors but our city has a serious shortage of doctors. I have had two MRI's done on my head done this year for a different unrelated problem, is there anyway to tell from these? If it happens what can be done to correct it?

Hi denekat,
Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you quit using cocaine and seeking medical care for you health issues related to this drug. I hope you are getting help too in a drug treatment program to remain free of cocaine. I'm not a Dr. so I don't know or nor can I give you ratios as to how much causes what. It is a very damaging drug with lasting signs such as visiable ones like the nose. If you don't like your Dr. try to find another one you can talk to and be treated for your health problems. Maybe plastic surgery is an option for your nose, but its important for a complete check-up and examination to determine the damage this drug has done to your body.
We all deserve competent medical care no matter the cause. Hopefully for you, you can find a Dr. you feel comfortable with.
