Is flexeril a psychoactive drug? Having taken it in the past, the physical effects of Flexeril are similar to that of depressants.
Am curretnly taking a Drugs and Behavior course and am trying to find out if I am correct to consider Flexeril to be a psychoactive.

Flexeril, i.e. cyclobenzaprine, is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Centrally acting means that it acts on the central nervous system, more specifically, the brain. It is a mild sedative and high doses are sometimes used "recreationally" with the intention of producing a relaxed, drowsy state. It has limited abuse potential - the effects are relatively mild, and not very desirable. So in this sense, yes, it is a psychoactive drug, because it is a sedative. However, the term psychoactive drug is usually reserved to drugs whose main function is to produce an effect on the psyche, such as antidepressants, sleeping pills, antipsychotics, etc. Flexeril's purpose is not to be psychoactive, but to ease muscle stiffness. I need some help with the side effects of flexeril an vicodin when taking together. I experienced confusion, nervousness, agitation, anxiety and I believed I might of suffered hallucinations. Please tell me if this is possible. Dr. Joshua says that flexeril act in the brain even though is a muscle relaxant. Please I need to know if all this side effects are possible. I am a 36 year old female that lives in constant pain due to neck and back injuries sustained in two motor vehilce accidents and now my job depends on the answer to this question. Please Help!
