Hi Dr. Joshua
I am having severe pain in both of my shoulders and sides of my upper back. This has been going on for months now. I was born with cerebral palsy but can walk and don't have it in my arms.
My dad has rhuematoid arthritis, so I don't know if it could be that. I have epilespy and a genetic heart condition. As well as Bipolar 2. I have been really fatigued and depressed also not sleeping well I feel confused and am sensitive to light and odors and noise well certain things. Could it be fibromyalgia???

Answer:
fibromyalgia symptoms
Hi Allison,
I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. What sort of work-up have you had for these symptoms? Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion, which means the only way you can be diagnosed with it is if you have tested negative for everything else. For example, if your fatigue and other symptoms are determined to be from another condition (like the ones you mentioned you have or others), then its probably not fibromyalgia. So its important that you talk to your physican so he can do the appropriate testing. Before you can be diagnosed wtih fibromyalgia, a whole slew of things needs to be ruled. Good luck and keep us posted! Let us know if you have any further questions.
