Sorry!!!
I wasnt sure what thread to post this under.......My sister was in a car accident ( Im telling you in case you dont remeber) She suffered severe brain injuries, its now been 5 months out , she will be leaving rehab for home in about 3 weeks, She is know on to the part where they are trying to work her muscles, to help her walk. She didnt have any injuries to her back or spine, but she did brake her leg ( calf ) and it was in a cast for about 5 weeks. But she is still having a hard time re-gaining her strength. I have a freind who is a massage therepist, she feels that it could benefit her muscles to have a massage, but she couldnt with out some kind of doctors release. I talked to my sisters main nurse and she said that she would definitaly ask her doctors and get back to me, but the doctors are not very holistic people, and probably wouldnt allow it. Im just wondering why they would not allow it ?, what could be possible effects of having a massage. Is her nurse just crazy ?or is my massage theropist friend full of it??? Do you think my sister could even benefit from a massage??

Sorry!!!
Hi ,
Good news your sister will be coming on in 3 weeks. Regarding the massage therapy. While it is being accepted in certain areas of the country and at certain hospitals it still remains to many holistic. While your sister is under the Dr.'s care you will need him to write an order for it. So the nurse will ask him and maybe he will allow it or maybe not. Hes in charge of writing the orders for her. You may also talk with him yourself or call to ask him.
For some conditions massage therapy is not the correct thing to do, I'm thinking in embolisms etc. which we might not know of.
The point remains the Dr. is in charge of her care and ordering all therapies for her. Esp. when she still is in rehab. Try talking to him yourself and see what he thinks of it.
Good Luck,

P.S.
I glad your sister is recovering so nicely.
