Ask:
word retrieval difficulty
I am a 40 yo mother of 4 and a special education teacher. I have poor short term memory due to a car accident that I was in as a teen. I had amnesia for a few days after being hit in the temple. Lately my memory seems to be getting worse. I have recently been saying words that I don't mean to say. Like "Scissors" instead of "Cereal". I immediately know that it wasn't what I meant to say...but have no reason for switching out the word. Sometimes I just have word-retrieval difficulty but sometimes something different just comes out. I often have headaches, but I considered that to be normal considering my lifestyle. Is this just what 40 is like or should I be concerned? thanks in advance.

Hello,
I would say no this is not what 40 should be like. Be seen to be examined and further testing to find your diagnosis to this short term memory loss. You may also search via the link below, just type in short term memory loss. Good Luck.

hello
how you doing? fine i hope. the reply before mine, say's no that is not normal for a forty year old, caught me totally off guard, because at 41 yrs old i too have
trouble remembering and word retrieval
it used to be so easy to recall things,
but now i have to make a list. Are you
sleeping any less than you have in the past. as for my memory problem, it comes
from me not getting enough sleep plus
i just get so over whelmed most of the time. being a caregiver for four (4) plus being a crossing guard twice a day and 3 to 10 days out of the month i may work on a construction site. i ve made stack of copies of a average day check list,
another thought just came to mind,
pregnancy often cause's forgetfulness.
well i hope everything works out for the
best, (in your favor ) take care of yourself.
and let us know how your doing, and what
your doctor advise's. iam intrestead
