Lump in my hand

Ask:
Lump in my hand
Hello

I am new to the site and wanted to get some info on what could be going on with my hand. (FYI, I am 27 and female)
About a month and half ago, I woke up to a swollen and numb hand. I also noticed that I had a long, skinny lump close to my thumb, which is painful. I did call my family dr., and went in for a check-up. He told me that it was probably a viral infection and it would go away in a week. Here I am, the pain is worse in my hand, still have the lump, and numbness. It is also going up my forearm and shoulder. I called the dr. again and he schuduled a ECG for Aug 1. I am very confused by that and don't really know what that has to do with my arm. Does anyone have any idea what this could be???
Thank you for your help
Katie

I'm confused as well about the ECG. I was thinking on the lines of arthritis in the joint or a repetitive injury. Why not ask your Dr. why the cardio test?
Which hand and arm is it? Maybe a referral to a neurologist and or a bone specialist is in order. Good Luck.
