I have recently noticed small brown marks appearing on my scalp, some are ring like in shape and others are not. They start of light and small and gradually become slightly larger and darker. They do not cause any pain or iritation but I am curious to know what they could be caused by and how I might treat them..if this is neccesary.

You might have it looked at to be sure its not ringworm of the scalp. You can also search this via the search tool.

Just an update for anyone who may have the same or similar query. I went to the doctor and they were unsure. They thought it could be ringworm however as there was no itching they were not sure. They prescribed me some antifungal cream to try to see if it worked. I am currently trying this.
