Ask:
Weight loss clinic
I am wondering if there are any medical reasons why a clinic could not be developed where someone over-weight could not check in and put into a drug induced coma, fed by IV enough to be healthy, have a therapist work your muscles daily, maybe exercise machines, tanning beds (I know thats a bit much-but would be nice) and whatever else is medically needed then wake you up when you reach your goal weight? Is it something that with the right physicians and backing could be done?

I know that there would be peope coming out of the wood work to do this....the rich and the poor...income tax money would be gone in January to this for alot of women...I would love to be the first guinea pig and lose about 50 pounds. But, is it possible?
Answer:
Weight loss clinic
There are many reasons why that cannot be done, of which I will state a few:
1) Its not cost effective and wouldn't be covered by insurance. Nor would hospitals, doctors, or anyone else undertake it, both because of the financial insecurity and the liability implications.
2) Its dangerous. Almost all the steps involved would hurt your body more than the risk of remaining overweight--particularly since the person who is undergoing all of this is overweight and probably not a prime healthy candidate.
3) Its unnecessary. There are many other more reasonable ways of losing weight.
4) Its temporary. When people lose weight because they're sick, the first thing they do is gain it all back once they're well. And particularly because all the weight loss is done when the person is unconscious, he will not have learned or even appreciated any of the behavior changes that are necessary for weight loss. He would start gaining the weight back the minute he awoke.
I'm sorry to say, but I'd look elsewhere to lose your fifty.
