Can blood in th stool look like red mucus? Or also like red flakes throughout the stool? My son had stools like these yesterday. Friday he had major diarreah, but was not sick, he didi not poop on sat. and these were his stools yesterday. Also very gassy and was up twice last might with stomach pain, and his room was gassy stinky in the night. He had white grape juice fri. morning, which has been safe in the past. i will try it again in a week or so to see if thats the culprit - I really don't wat a new allergy though!!! Ant way, is ths how blood presents itself in the stool?

Blood in stools can be dark or light and in muscus as the case may be. Or it could be something red or pink he ate. Sounds like something isn't agreeing with him for the symtoms he is having or he could even have an intestinal virus. Make sure he is well hydrated and have him seen by the Dr. to determine which. Blood in stool should always be investigated.

Hello, I would like to refer you a strange case which happened to one of my relatives 6 year old daughter. Though this does not have anything to do with the mucus but it has got something with the stool so decided to ask. She was otherwise healthy and active but one day started complaining about a bad stomach ache. Now this was initially thought to be a normal issue and was not given much consideration later the pain was seen to increase, on diagnosing the doctors asked to go for an endoscopy. However as soon as the process was on progress she felt the urge to answer the call of nature and it was seen that she had accumulated stool in her stomach for the last week or so which was the cause for the pain. Now I want to ask is this normal? Further how can someone resist this urge for over an week?

Sounds like the poor girl was literally filled to the brim. Maybe she didn't have an urge to have a BM and was impacted to the point of explosion. I do hope she is on a bowel regiment to make having a bowel movement not so fearful or hurtful. Her diet and liquids are very important maybe with softners short term and having her take time out for relaxing to have a normal bowel movement. What did her Dr. say or prescribe for this?

my 5 mon old son had blood that looke mucousy and jelly-like in his stool when I found out he was allergic to milk protein. So, yes, I think it can look like red mucus
