Ask:
Burning and tingling in arm and shoulder pain - degenerative????
I was in a bad car accident 15 months ago and still have burning and tingling in my left arm down to my thumb and shoulder pain. Two orthopaedic dr's said nothing wrong with arm and that the only damage to my discs is normal degenerative damage not caused by accident and though an MRI of should showed bursitis, they say that this too not necessarily caused by accident. The pain and burning/tingling started after the accident, though so I am confused. Had nerve testing done twice, two steroid injections, and myelogram done but the injections didnt help and the tests came back either normal or with moderate degenerative changes. Anyway, insurance company has yet to pay all my bills which many of which have gone to collections and I am still in pain and the burning/tingling drives me crazy all night. Is there another dr. or test or anything out there that might help me find some relief? How long will this last? I can't seem to get any straight answers from Dr's I have seen.

I understand what you are saying. I had a car accident in 2004 and my shoulder pain has gotten worse over the last several years. I am to the point that I have difficulty doing normal household chores. My doctor told me today that the pain is not from a car accident and that there was nothing he could do for me. Maybe I was just depressed. I had a few words for him and the only thing making me depressed is that no one will listen to me about the pain. I want the pain to stop and it is only getting worse. If you find help let me know.

Hello,
Sorry you still in pain. I hope your Dr. gives you something for the pain or can refer you to a specialist to see if anything eles can be done. Living with daily pain that not much can be done for is enough to make one depressed. Have you persued getting a second opinion or a pain management clinic?
Best of Luck,

thank you for your post. I am on the internet right now looking for a doctor who specializes in shoulder pain. Hopefully I can find one in my area. I am a teacher and a mother. I need my arms and they are becoming more and more useless. I just want some help. The only meds I have gotten are pain pills that make me very sick or nock me out. Not good when you have to teach, drive or watch the kids. I will not give up on this, no matter what. I am to have another MRI next week on my shoulders. I have read things on the internet that make me think they should also check my neck to make sure all is ok there. I will see what they say

hello again,
OK - went and had a shoulder MRI and nothing conclusive showed. Doctor told me for my peace of mind he would do an MRI of my neck. Said that it will probably not show anything, but I guess he did it just to shut me up. I am still in pain! He said it may be something I need to see an artheritus doctor about or something similar. YEA RIGHT! It started with my accident and has gotten worse since. If this MRI shows nothing conclusive I am done. I cannot keep spending money I do not have. I guess I am to the point that I will have to live with this forever and eventually it will get so bad that I cannot use my arms at all. Then maybe they will find out what is going on. I will just have to wait and see. (by the way -- the hospital had not sent the report over to the doctor yet -- and he spent 2 min or less - looked at 2 pictures on the MRI and that was it. I had 8 pictures with 15 images on each.)

I was reading Dr. Sinuhe's previous posting regarding. Did your Dr. do an ENMG for possible root compression?
