For the past couple months, i notice the cartilige in the tip of my nose is starting to show through the skin as white lumps, these lumps are getting bigger each day, around the outside edge of the lump is a small area of red, like inflamation, the area itself stings like mad constantly and feels really tight, i've had 2 lots of antibiotics, my dr hasn't even looked at my nose, just kjeeps saying it'e allergies, i am so upset and depressed by this, i am starting to think the worst now, i can't beleave how my nose has changed so much over the past couple months and the pain sometimes is unbearable, please help as i am so scared now.

Hi, i thought i would put a few more details here, i've been to my dr again and he is at a loss as to what is wrong, i am waiting for ENT app, but that will take weeks. Some months ago i woke up with either a bite or spot on the tip of my nose, after that went down, what appeared to be bruising under the skin started to show then a small white gristly lump appeared under the skin, this lump has got bigger and it does seem to be the cartilige which is either swelling or the flesh around it is shrinking, so that now most of the cartilige at the tip of my nose is prominant, also the skin has changed colour, my nose tip is almost all white now, with lots of capilliries both inside and outside my nostrils, the white pigments are edge with a red line, don't know if this is inflammation.My nose is constantly stinging and the skin feels very tight both inside and outside my nose, forgot to mention that after the bite appeared i ended up with 2 sinus infection (never suffered with this before )was treated with 2 lots of anibiotics. please help me, is this cancer or some sort of auto immune desease triggered by the bite??? my nose gets worse each day both in appearence and pain and i am getting really depressed about this, i am so scared now, sorry cant give photo, no means of doing this, so i will understand if you can't help me with this.if you need any more info please ask and i will do my best. Thanks for the additional info, Sharock. It sounds like your nose should definitely be checked by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon, and a biopsy (tissue sample) may need to be considered. Please talk to your doctor about this.

Thanx for your views, at the moment i am in so much pain and have no where to turn to in a rush, can't see ENT specialist until the end of August and I now cant see Dermatoligist for over a week. don't know what to do anymore, hardly slept last night because of pain and I am starting to suffer with depression badly,
I aslo wondered if it was some sort of auto immune desease, or cancer or even some sort of mrsa infection caused by the bite, but until i can get in to see someone i just don't know, I give up with GP they really don't know what it could be, and said they would leave it to specialist to do blood tests xrays etc, even though they know i have to wait some time before i see the specialsits.
Pain killers don't work anymore.
Sorry to sound so miserable but that it how i am feeling now .

Hello Sharock, so sorry you are in so much pain. But please don't give up. I used to work in a hospital as a nurse for 20 years and I am now on disability. I have a autoimmune disease called Systemic Lupus,and pos MS. I understand how you feel. Been there many times. It does take a long time to get in to see specialist. I will say a pray for you for the pain and that your nose gets better. Hope you start feeling better. Angel

Do you kmow if there are treatments if this is an auto immune desease, i feel like the tip of my nose ( the soft tissue) is being eaten away, I do try to be positive but it is so hard when the pain is right there in the middle of my face and whenever i look in the mirror i see the changes. I'm so scared i'm going to lose my nose totally, I've been searching the net and can't find anything simillar to this.

Angel i just logged back on to add a bit to this, i am so sorry, i am so wrapped up in how i feel at the moment, that i totally missed what you i also going through, i am not usually like this, i can only say it's because of what i'm going through at the moment,I don't know about Lupus all i do know is my friends mum has just been diagnosed with it, so they are trying to find out as much info as they can about it.

Sharock, hello again, and I hope your pain is better. Yes there are treatments for autoimmune diseases. Thank you for the concern for my health, but I am doing well living with Lupus. I have a very positive attitude. It really helps. Anyway, hope you are feeling better. Please ask your Doctor to check you for the autoimmune disease Relapsing Polychondritis, it is one that affects the cartilage of your nose. Just wanted to run that by you. Hope it helps. If your friends mom needs some information on Lupus I can help her. My mother had Lupus , I have Lupus and my son also has Lupus. Interesting isn't it.
