Effexor, Dealing w/ side effects

Ask:
Effexor, Dealing w/ side effects
Hello to all,
I have been recently diagnosed with GAD. My doctor started me on Effexor XR 75mg about a week ago. The side effects have been worse than the GAD itself. I am currently experiencing tremors, sweating (mostly at night), and when I go to sleep at night, I wake within a couple of hours and can't get back to sleep. I think the worst of all is the nausea, sometimes I almost get to the point of throwing up. I contacted my doctor, and he said give it another week or two, and to take some benadryl to help me sleep.
My question to the forum, do the side effects eventually subside? How long does it take? And is there any thing I can do to help with them?
Thanks to all, and God Bless.

:) Hello mmgarrett
So sorry your being troubled with all this drugs side effects. You can search this drug via the google bar/web. From what I read these are the normal side effects, very bothersome as they may be. Good news is they could subside in 2-3 weeks, which I hope they do for you. So your DR. it seems wants you to wait another week to see maybe. You shouldn't discontinue the use of this drug without your DR knowing. You may try eating just a few plain crackers for nausea, it helps me when I'm nauseated.
Good luck to you and glad to have you on the forum.

Just an update. Since starting the Effexor (1 wk 3 days ago), things have improved!
I found that taking an antacid helped with the nausea. Benedryl helped with sleeping. The night sweats have gone down. I still get a slight headache, a shaky nervous feeling, and a somewhat cloudy head. I'm hoping these will improve as well.
If your experiencing the same side effects, try the antacids and Benedryl, they seem to have helped alot.
Good luck to all and thanks for the feedback.
