stomach pain

Ask:
stomach pain
Hi, I never did this before, but I am embarrassed to go to the doctors if this is just gas. So here goes. About 3 times in the last year, I have woken up in the middle of the night with a pain in my stomach. When I lay down it feels like a ball under my rib on the right side. When I breathe in I can feel it. I can't lay down, stand up or sit, because it's so uncomfortable. At the same time my lower back hurts around the sides. I also feel bloated. I've taken some over the counter, like alka seltzer and tums, but nothing helps. The only thing that alleviates this, is if I wake up my husband. He rubs my back, especially the lower sides, and it seems to go away enough that I can lay down. An episode last a few hours, because I hate to wake him, so I just suffer thru it and try other things. Any ideas out there? p.s no problems with the bowels or anything.

Purple98Lady Hi bluejeep,

Sounds really uncomfortable. Gastric reflux comes to mind, hiatal hernia. Sometimes over the counter meds just dont work for reflux. Also gallbadder problems.
You really should be seen by your primary Dr.for a complete work up for an exact diagnosis, if its just gas be relieved and not embarrassed. You can research your symptoms also at AskDoctorJoshua.com for further reading.

Jessica Riley Hello
Im sorry for your anxiety let me tell you about my story. I'm 22 I have never been sick a day in my life, yet suddenly I started having pains EXACTLY like yours. I would constantly feel bloated, my chest always hurt, and when I would lay day down, I would feel like there too was a ball under my rib (where your gall bladder is located) The pain got worse as days went bye. Dr did blood work and showed elevated liver function, yet said it was possibly all in my head, as I do have anzxiety. Fass Forward to two months later and I have a temp of 108 and no blood pressure. I was life flighted to a different hospital where my family was told I would not survive through the night. Turns out that the "anxiety" was Gall Bladder disease, and I was slowing filling with bile, my body poisened itself. I was comp. septic. I was in a coma for 46 days!!
PLEASE DONT BE AFARAID TO GO SEE YOUR DR MAKE HIM/HER RUN TESTS show them this post do what you have to do, to stay safe. I hope this helps you and please keep me posted..
With concern, Jess
