Health Secrets?

Ask:
Health Secrets?
I'm just not sure there are any secrets. There are many who have certian things they eat, take or do that they swear keep them healthy. Hats off to them and I think the belief in such things, does keep their mind set healthy. A good thing.
I have seen people who have lived healthy all their lives stricken with devastating illness that just came upon them out of the sky. I'm left thinking why.
I know people who have ignored all the health risks of some very bad habits and still managed to live until they were old. Maybe moderation was their key.
When I think of a secret to life I think of just how fragile we all are, how short life really is, the journey , what things are really important in this life.
Your genes, your character and personal make up have alot to do with your health. I personally feel with some luck and trying to live healthy, keeping your mind healthy and your heart feeling you can make the most of this journey. Every now and them you need a soul day for the inner you. This for me is my time to renew. Could be prayer, meditation, simply music or doing the things that bring me joy. Surround yourself with the things that bring you inner joy. Never forget to smile, to speak and to live and to love.
So with some luck and my yogurt I hope I continue to enjoy the ride and maybe just maybe help someone eles have a great day.

I agree with Purple98lady & Dr Joshua
when a person enjoys good physical health and mental tranquility, it does affect their life span significantly.
Prayers, peace of mind, love, positive attitude, a healthy nutritious diet & a sense of humor... Great .

Thank you for your post Bunny.
I was back tracking reading Dr. Joshua's post regarding the ones who have lived longer (I like that term). It is true that alot of older people are able to take things in stride. Maybe because they have lived longer, they have learned more through lifes experiences. Like things you can't change, coming to grips with mortality, and just plain enjoyment of life and each day your allowed to stay.
I think the best patients are children and the persons that have lived longer.
Alot of the worst patients are the younger adults, and I hate to say it but alot of Dr.'s are lousy patients.

Whenever I actually need to go to the doctor (luckily very rarely, last time it was in 1995 for Achilles tendon surgery), I'd like to think that I am good patient and do what I'm told - I like to leave myself in the hands of the staff, I'm going to them for help and let them do their job. When you have dedicated most of your life to providing care for others, it's nice once in a while to just let go and have someone else take care of me when I'm sick - but of course I have to be really sick to go to the doctor :)

I agree with all the above posts.
I do believe a positive attitude is a big enhancement to one's health. I can say for myself as someone who has gone through many injuries in the past two years that if I didn't keep a good or strong outlook, who knows what I would be like now. Granted it is not always easy, we have our up and down days. Another big factor is having support while you go through an illness, the power of support from family, and friends helps.

I have seen people who have lived healthy all their lives stricken with devastating illness that just came upon them out of the sky. I'm left thinking why. Reading google health news I have come across numerous times, some health problems being linked to what someones parents and even grandparents ate.
For example the latest one is a guys sperm count could be low if there mothers ate a lot of beef while pregnant, but I know doctors dont give much credit to these things because its really anecdotal, but still goes to show you can eat healthy all your life etc but it also matters what your parents and grandparents ate too.
