SCFE surgery
My 12 year old daughter had SCFE surgery in NOV. 2006, has surgery, screw inserted, she had pain so screw was removed bone had grown over top of screw in less than 6 months and now the femoral head is not as round as it was 4 months ago. She has been going through physical therapy but continues to have groin pain, especially after the slightest activity, will this ever go away? We have tried all of the creams and over the counter meds, pain patches, even glucosamine/chondroitin vitamins....nothing works. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Gosh, how unfortunate for her to be having these symptoms 4 months down the road. I don't know your answer but I would persue the surgeon and ask him how long this is going to continue, what is normal, does he need to take more exrays, what the heck can he do. My quess is he ordered the physical therapy and I wonder how much she is able to do. Physical therapy can be painful at first but is an important part of recovery. Talk with the physical therapist as well and be aggressive in your approach, make them make sense of this so you understand. Ask questions and be very visable. Also maybe some pain medication pre physical therapy would help.
Good Luck and let us know.

Thanks for your reply/concern. We get x-rays every 3 months when we go to the surgeon. I am also concerned because she was very active in basketball, and is getting very depressed saying she doesn't want live with the pain anymore, I asked what she meant by that and she insists she would not do anything to herself......she cries, I cry, trying to be strong for her though. Thanks again!
