Fibroids?

Ask:
Fibroids?
I am a 51 year old female with no children. Due to a prolonged period (40 days and 40 nights) i saw an OB/GYN about five years ago. I was told that I had several fibroids. Things have been pretty much normal until the onslaught of menopause (hot flashes, night sweats, etc). My period stopped for three months (hurrah) and then started ten days ago and I have been bleeding like a stuck pig ever since. Today I passed two massess about 3 inches square  . Could these be the fibroids?...or was it my heart and liver, anyway I was too afraid to look. This is small town Canada and I could see a vetrinary student before I can get in to see the 100 year old doctor I have. Thanks for any help

Fibroids?
Hi Silktassel,
40 days and 40 nights oh my! Fibroids tend to shrink after menopause. But if it has been five years they may or may not have grown. Also with extreme blood loss you can become enemic. There are treatment options available. I never heard of passing fibroids since they are really within the uterus wall, most likely it was blood clots your passing.
With this amount of bleeding and menopause can take several years, I would be seen to be sure just how large yours are and treatment options right for you. And try to get on the patient list of your Dr. while you still can if hes that old. lol Good Luck to you.
