Ask:
severe ear/face pain
I had a sinus infection last december that would not clear up, this has led from one thing to another over the past 4 months. the pain started in my nose cheekbone area, but has gradually spread to my ear and side of my head (sometimes shooting down my top jawline to my front teeth). Nothing any doctor has tried has worked and I am really starting to get frustrated with the problem. I had a myringotomy done about two weeks ago and the pain was instantly gone (the doctor just cut a hole in my eardrum, no tube) but only for a few days. then the pain came back and I called him and he put me on steroids for a week (along with torodol for the pain and inflamation). I just finished the medicine and the pain is just as bad as it was before surgery but now it is shooting up and down my head from my ear. My family doctor is either stumped about what this could be (or doesnt want to deal with it) and the ENT doesnt want to see me back until the beginning of April. I am so tired of dealing with this and I cannot afford much more time off from work. I have a family with two little kids and I want to get this stuff gone so I can enjoy my life again- please help!!!
Thankyou

Hi pflahe,
I'm not the Dr. but if I were you, your ENT would here from me well before he wanted to in April. Why didn"t he put a tube in? Do you still have infection or just fluid? I'm sure there are many things we don't understand but with all these symptoms and pain, and the risk of infection so near the brain etc. he would see me sooner then he liked too for a conclusive treatment.
If not, go to another ENT this is dragging out a tad long.
Good Luck
