Acupuncture safe for ulnar nerve compression?

Ask:
Acupuncture safe for ulnar nerve compression?
I am going for physiotherapy in regards to my hand/possible ulnar nerve compression. The therapist would like to try acupuncture. I know it's been around for thousands of years but should I check with my doctor first? I know the the needle type things are not stuck down far, but wasn't sure if this would aggravate anything. Thank you for your help!

For me and this is only my opinion. I would only try acupuncture if western medicine didn't work alone, maybe in conjunction with for some things like nausea as with chemo-therapy etc. and only as a last resort. It has helped with minor aches and pains so they say, but I don't use chiropracters either, and acupuncture falls behind those for me. I have know people who have tried it for severe pain and it didn't last very long. Enough just isn't known about it for me to even try it.
