Dear Sirs,
My 18 month old daughter went to a local clinic for her 18 month shots and when she were leaving my wife was told that the nurse had injected the Pentacel shot subcutaneously instead of intramuscularly.
Mom received a call today saying that we should return to get a repeat shot of the vaccine into the muscle.
We are wondering if this would be too much of a dose of vaccine for our toddler to cope with and if there could be any adverse reactions to receiving double the dose?
Or should we wait for six months to reevalute the situtation.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

With some vaccines, such as Pentacel, according to the prescription information, injection in other tissue than muscle may not elicit a sufficient immunization. This is probably the reason why they suggested a repeat shot. I am not familiar with Pentacel administration and I cannot find a direct answer to your question.
I recommend that you follow your local health care provider's instructions. You should express your concerns to your daughter's doctor - I'm sure they'll be able to help.
