Strep Throat ?

Ask:
Strep Throat ?
How bad will strep throat make your throat look? I have red blisters, some really small white spots and a white patchy area (about 10 of them) in the back of my throat & on my tonsils. Throat looks red but nothing extreme. It's been hurting but controllable with sore throat lounges. Can throat irritation or a URI also cause this?

Maybe it could be the constant irritation from post nasal drip and coughing because you mention no fever. Here is what strep looks like and is caused by a bacteria.

From your previous post regarding congestion, post nasal drip, chest discomfort etc., its hard to know. You mentioned you think the chest symptoms are from GERD so maybe you were treated for this at some point.
Personally, (while i'm certainly no Dr.) I would think its sinusitis, causing all this irritation. I would think too it would be possible to develop other infections if left untreated for a time. For whatever reason you ENT didn't want to do surgery, I would go see him again and present him with your symptoms and he can physically examine you to proceed with what is to be done or what medications are your options.

My throat is not no where near that red like in that photo. I have been looking up pictures today and saw that pus collects on the tonsils in strep (mine is doing that too), but my tonsils are not swollen. The papillia on 1/2 the part of my tongue is enlarged now, looks like what is called strawberry tongue that occurs w) scarlet fever, except 1/2 of it is still okay.
I have severe reflux/barrett's espoghagitis. It was so bad I couldn't even eat or drink anything. Finally found a medication a month ago to put it under control, and after I got this sore throat, all those problems came back, and I was so sick yesterday, I threw up.
My ENT didn't want to do surgery because he said my condition wasn't severe enough. I am going to go see my PCP this week though.
Thanks for the help.

The nurse did a strep test but the doctor didn't even pick it up & look at it. She said coxsackie virus was going around and causing blisters in people's throats and that a virus could cause gastroenteritis and make reflux worse, and that I may be having an allergy flare up. I don't know if I have allergies & I don't think I have that virus because I haven't been out anywhere to catch such a thing. I stay inside most of the time where I have fatigue so bad from apnea & I don't have the energy to do much. How else would you get such a virus? My daughter's had cold symptoms too but her throat is fine. She doesn't have any sores or ulcers anywhere either. I got sick right after she did.
