anesthesia question for a Doctor

anesthesia question for a Doctor
I am new to this board and am not sure how to get this question to a doctor who will know the answer so am sending this again. Please advise anyone?
I have a question regarding anesthesia for surgery. I underwent a small volume liposuction surgery and was promised ‘Twilight Sedation’. I was told I would feel very sleepy and that I would not remember anything about the surgery. I also was told that this was better than General Anesthesia, safer and more comfortable and without the risks associated with a General. The Doctor said I had ‘Twilight Anesthesia’ but the Anesthesiologist said I had ‘General Anesthesia’, not Twilight. A Medical friend said I had neither. What did I have? Here are the particulars.
I received the following drugs through an IV: Reglan, Decadron, Glyco, Propofol, Ketamine, Mepridine and Medez (sp?) and something written as ‘LR’ throughout. Routine life support monitors were established with nasal O2, EKG, blood pressure cuff, etc. My eyes were taped shut and early in the procedure, an LMA mask was inserted. I also had local anesthesia with Tumescent technique for the liposuctioning. The surgery was 2 hours and 45 minutes long and I was in recovery for about an hour. My Anesthesia report indicated ‘GA’ as this was circled in the section labeled ‘PLAN’. The other choices, ‘MAC’, ‘EPIDURAL’ and ‘SPINAL’ were not circled or otherwise noted. What kind of Anesthesia did I have?
Thanks so very much, Diane

DR. Joshua is able to see all forum topics so there is really no need to repost to a different topic. Did you try asking your surgeon directly just what anesthesia they gave you? Might get a more direct answer since he was there.
Good Luck:smile:

Yes, Of course, I asked the Doctor what kind of anesthesia it was. Please refer to my original question. The problem is that the doctor and the Anesthesiologist disagree about what I had. I was hoping to get some clarification on the matter since there seems to be a major discrepancy in thinking here. If you are not informed about these topics than how do I get the question to a Doctor, or is there one?
Thanks very much!

 Yes there is a Dr. in fact 2 of them. However they are both quiet busy at the present time and will answer questions as their busy schedules allow. I'm sure will give you his opinion as soon as he is available. Please see the post in DR. Joshua's News regarding (Busy Times).
By directly I meant in person to the surgeon, ask him to clarify or consult with the anesthesiologist and come to a conclusion together so you will be better informed, more then from the OR report your reading.
Good Luck

Thanks so much for replying. I probably didn't make myself very clear. I have in fact discussed the anesthesia issue at length with both the Dermatologist and the Anesthesiologist. The Dermatologist is insisting that I had Twilight as he promised because I did not have anesthetic gases. The Anesthesiologist maintains that she put me under a General with an LMA mask and IV anesthetics even though she used no gases. Her anesth. report reflects this as well. They each seem to have a different definition of Twilight and General anesthesia. The anesthesiologist told me that this was definitely NOT Twilight but a general and then said that she has told him not to call this Twilight because it is misleading to patients. I don't think this is an accident. Because the Doctor advertises heavily his use of Twilight for his liposuction surgeries, obviously this is a strong selling point to potential patients. It is very important to me that a differentiation is made because women are signing up for this surgery thinking they are getting twilight and in reality may be getting a General anesthesia instead. I know of other women who had the same experience as me, ending up with a very poorly done surgery, most often needing a revision all because they were promised something that the average Plastic surgeon is not providing, Twilight anesthesia. That is why I am on this quest to discover what I actually had and who is accurate. Hope this helps the doctor understand my question. I totally understand how busy they must be and if they don't get around to answering, well at least I did my best to try to discover the truth.
