Ask:
Akathisia treatment
What would be your treatment plan for a patient with akasithia due to Geodon and Risperdal? Would you prescribe a benzodiazepine and muscle relaxant? If so, which would you prescribe? I am taking Klonopin and currently Flexeril, but more than likely will be placed on Baclofen. I am just curious as to what you would do in this situation. The Geodon and Risperdal are necessary for my treatment of Bipolar Disorder and my psychosis. I am just curious as to what another physician might do. Thanks for your time!

I'm not an expert on this stuff, so I would recommend talking to your psychiatrist and possibly getting a second opinion if you feel that your treatment is not working adequately.
Reading up, I found that beta blockers such as propranolol have been used with the most success. Benzodiazepines seem to be the next step, and also amantadine, clonidine (you seem to be taking this already), ritanserin, piracetam, valproic acid and tricyclic antidepressants have been used.
