Ask:
Baby's Brain Affected Due To Lack of Oxygen
Lori from California
My Niece was born a month prematurely about 2 weeks ago. Her Mother was found on the bathroom floor, passed out. Apparently, her placenta "broke" because it was sitting on top of the birth canal. It detached from the baby and her uterus filled with blood. She was rushed to emergency and they immediately put her on the table and gave her a C-section. She lost 2/3 of her blood and had to have transfusions. To make a very long story short, The baby was "pressured" inside her for a minimum of 3 hours. The baby had two MRI's and the Doctor found two "spots" on the left side of the brain. The Doctor told us he couldn't be sure what that would mean for the baby's future. I felt the Doctor was a little evasive with our direct questions because he was trying to be positive. Could you please tell me what the left side of the brain is used for and what it could "possibly" affect? Thank you so much!

Sorry to hear of this. The left side of the brain controls language and logic. Your welcome to use the search tool also. Talk with the Dr. and have him commit to a diagnosis and possible outcomes regarding the MRI and the baby's future.
