Ask:
Possible Candida? Very long term symptoms
Hello, and thank you in advance for any advice/support:
I recently went to my local doctor because I've been experiencing general tiredness/lack of energy for the past two months. In addition, my throat is scratchy (not sore) and I wake up every morning with dry/itchy eyes and tired/soreness behind the eyes. My voice is also deeper.
My nasal passages and throat are also very dry. My pulse feels very strong. These symptoms have persisted for 60 days.
My doctor said that there was some redness in my throat, but it wasn't strep. He ruled out a number of things, said to try to have my body fight it off, but after that, I was prescribed a 5-day course of Zithromax (since there was yellow/green dried mucous in my nasal passages). The antibiotics did not alleviate my symptoms.
I really am stumped. I typed all of my symptoms into Google and it came up with Candida in many of the results. Could this be what is going on? I do have a relatively high starch/sugar diet, but I also eat good & organic fruits & vegetables like kale, chard, etc. and regularly take vitamins & probiotics. However, anytime I eat something like pizza, I feel very tired/sluggish afterwards.
Is it likely that I have candida albicans? If so, which diet should I begin? As an ovolactopescatarian, I think my choices would be limited to wild salmon & other healthy fish, eggs (mostly egg whites), nuts (except peanuts) and lots of non-starchy, non-sugary vegetables. This seems extreme but maybe my only option. I need to get better!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Healthy guy,
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Candida usually appears as white spots in your mouth, so without that, its unlikely that's what you have. Its also most common in immunocomprimised people, so if it is what you have, I'd bet there's something more going on there. Its unlikely that it would just pop up in a otherwise healthy guy. That said, there are a lot of things that could account for your symptoms. Do you have a fever or swollen lymph nodes? Perhaps its some type of virus you're trying to fight off that will pass. Another thing that popped into my head when reading your symptoms is allergies. Any chance of that? I hope you get to feeling better and please do keep us posted.

Thanks very much for the reply.
I guess at this point I'm stumped. I would have thought this may have been allergies, but I've been experiencing the symptoms for 60 days, starting back in February!
My chief complaints are: dry throat, dry eyes, very strong pulse & fatigue!
Antibiotics were not successful. I don't smoke, rarely drink and eat a solid diet. I guess I suspected Candida because I did have a few canker-type sores on the roof of my mouth, I felt very tired after eating refined grains/yeasty items and my tongue often is coated in white (nothing too abnormal though)...
Any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. My head almost shakes with my pulse sometimes when I'm reading & I am getting very anxious for this cold/virus/infection/candida/whatever it may be to pass.
Thanks again.

I agree with YankeeBeckham regarding there is more going on. I thinks its an allergy of some sort. You haven't been tested for this yet so maybe its worth a try.

You might want to look into gluten intolerance. A lot of people don't think about that.
