Its not that money is the root of all evil, its ” the lack of money which is the root
of evil”
Answer:
i neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed my computer!!
Answer:
What ever happen'ed to good face to face conversations with real live people???
Answer:
No Money is root of all evil. It's what you do with it that makes it evil. You can share it or keep it to yourself. People tend to keep it to themselves. Greed. We're quick to move on and come up with the next big thing, that we forget what we have done and forget what really matters. People less fortunate need the money, need the technology to live, need the basics even to survive. We forget that in our rush to move forward.
Answer:
i do face to face conversations but what happened when i'm left at work with nothing to do or don't have to GAS MONEY to go see my friend that's why i need my computer
Answer:
i'd say the opposite mate..one of the only good things to come of this computer/modern age is the net and our ability to talk, frankly to others from totally different worlds/walks of life..(and this is coming from someone who only recently joined the net world) the global village could really be happening..and it's due to technoloical advances made recently. it's not like, 50 years(and the rest) ago it was all rosy and happy-go-lucky..if you look back in history, ie how empires were built etc, you'd see FAR worse **** was going on. consumerism(for the sake of it), money and the pursuit of it is the root of all evil. The net allows freedom of speech and the realisation that not al of us are chasing these false, self-destructive ideals. Knowledge is power! just this site, for example alows the communication and development of ideas from all sides..and it really is a GOOD thing Peace, love and unity y'all!
Answer:
lpjl- goodface-to-face conversations still happen too!
Answer:
I was thinking of editing your post. "lost" should be loss, and I think the expression you are looking for is "The love of money is the root of all evil." not "lack of money". Anyway, Karl Marx (and Engels) had a lot to say about the effect of technology and consumerism on society and our social interactions. Don't tar me as a communist, I don't agree wholeheartedly with his solutions, but his analysis of the problem is rock solid.
Answer:
One of the problems with money that Aristotle pointed out, is you can only manage so many possessions before they become too much to handle, but you can never have too much money. The danger of money is its tendency to be hoarded, and the economic systems we have right now reward those who hoard.
Answer:
read the book The Postman I almost sometimes wish life were like the book
Answer:
The Postman is a post-apocalyptic novel where small sects of civilization are just barely hanging on, and almost at the mercy of the amrauding "survivalists". No, thank you. And I wouldn't say technology is the cause of the problems you're speaking of. Technology is a tool, and as such tools improve our ability to exert our will on the world, they only magnify those aspects of ourselves that were already present. And money keeps the world moving forward; it replaced the barter system. Certainly governments, businesses, and individuals could manage it better and do more and greater things with the resources they possess, but it is not in and of itself a cause of good or evil - it is a resource; it is another tool. Those without money simply lack resaources - they lack tools; they exert less will on the world. As such, they are heard less, unintentionally marginalized and pushed around more, and have comparatively little control over life in our society.
Answer:
Well I certainly agree that life was much worse when we didn't have all this technology, and money is a practical necessity. For all intents and purposes we need it as bartering is just too inefficient for our high efficiency luxurious lives. Talk about equality and the poor, well there are a lot of extremely socialist or liberal (or whatever you want to call it) countries in Europe where the standard of living and health care is much better. They enjoy luxuries of our modern society including money and technology, but have much less of the crime and impoverished circumstances than the United States. I'm talking about countries like Sweden, Denmark, and France.
Answer:
ok the postman without the cannabils
Answer:
When did we EVER have these morals and respect you say are declining? History (that includes before computers and all that) is full of immoral and disrespectful behavior. I don't think men were being very respectful when they buried mothers who gave birth to daughters alive. I don't think crusaders were being very moral when they forced and tortured everyone to convert to Christianity. Hm?
Answer:
It's with technology that we'll find ourselves. Without technology, it's bye-bye medicine, drinkable water, cooked food, and education. Look at 3rd world countries that have none of these things. Not very happy people, even if they do see each other's sad faces everyday.
