what heats up faster a liquid or solid(sand)?

Ask:

Answer:
Wait, what? it depends on specific heat. What are we asking about.
Answer:
i think sand.
Answer:
artifical heat like from a bed side lamp
Answer:
... Before you write down sand. If it is a liquid it could be anything from oil to alcohol. And alcohol heats up pretty **** fast that is why it evaporates so quickly! So you have to be more specific. What kind of liquid. And what kind of solid? Is the liquid water?
Answer:
oh sorry i mean water with a little bit of sand in it my science teacher is really funny
Answer:
well, that all depends on the girl. this question is..you are leaving too much out..
Answer:
The answer is solid sand then.
Answer:
but he can be a jerk sometimes
Answer:
ill re-ask the question ok will water (the liquid) heat up faster then the solid (the sand)
Answer:
Sand.
Answer:
what heats up faster..do you mean what heats up faster once it gets going, or what starts to get hot faster? and why are we doing your homework? I would say the water would heat up faster..Nothere12 says the sand what now?
Answer:
ok say i got a lamp and i go to bed i have 2 lamps sand on one side and water on the other what will heat up faster
Answer:
I think this is more a problem to understand specific heat.
Answer:
lol artifical heat
Answer:
won't the water act as a radiator for the sand, in which case the water will get hot quicker? assuming they are mixed and how do you test the temp of sand? hmm. I know that at the beach the sand seems to get hotter slower than the water on a sunny day..but?? so this was not covered in a textbook at all?
Answer:

Answer:
this should be in ripleys belive it or not a 8 minuite talk with 3 people just about sand
Answer:
Teachers just ask random questions now a days, ha ha? "teacher was being a jerk and said to do it" well, if it is not homework, nor based on anything you have learned, you should tell your parents the teacher is asking for the impossible. but, since your teacher said to do it, it is homework. NIce attitude, by the way.
Answer:
HERES THE DEAL it took me 5 seconds and google and a little bit of deductive reasoning to find the real answer..and I did not have to get an attitude to do it. Good luck, and good day.
Answer:
Ha,Ha i know sorry its due tommorow
Answer:
http://www.rock-hill.k12.sc.us/teachers/NWHS/kanderson/specheat.htm Specific heat of sand is lower than water, so it requires less "heat" to make it go up in temperature.

Answer:
... That is because they probably didn't answer this specific question.
Answer:
there's no such thing as artificial heat
Answer:
my question was "what heats up faster a liquid or solid(sand)?"
Answer:
well, I found it..you wanna know why? because NO ONE gave me the answers, I had to learn how to research and find answers, even if they were not obvious I am truly sorry that this is not being taught to you and I knew the answer was sand..I was just mucking up the issue I give up..free ride to all. then they can all learn to be mimics.
Answer:
yes there is like a lamp or gas lit on fire
Answer:
they heat up at the same rate. something merely conduct heat better.
Answer:
ok ok ok ok mr.Newton
Answer:
... Things don't "heat" up at the same rate unless they have the same specific heat and thermal conductivity... But since I am assuming this is like 6th grade science, they would probably only consider specific heat.
Answer:
thank you for all the help so ill give you something funny to watch go on youtube.com and type in jeff dunham walter
