Last year my husband of 17 years became mentaly ill.

Ask:
It was a slow progress in which he seemed normal to us (we have two girls 9 & 13), his employees and friends.
Within a year, he wiped out our 10 year successful business, our savings and all relations to our family. He did this be systematically taking out money and losing it, telling our family that I was mentally disturbed and the kids are in danger.
I tried to make everyone see that he is ruining us, but because he was such a good person, father and husband no one belived me until it was too late.
I am working all the time trying to make ends meet, the girls are traumatized, but we made a pact to pull through this. They are great students and good kids. I am heartbroken because they see me struggling, but getting nowhere.
I have no credit (used to have 700), our house is being forclosed, my car has been repossesed so I have to rent one in order to get to work, and the bills keep stacking up. I was denied food stamps or assitance because we used to have money.
I am talented and have a lot of experiance in my line of work, I can turn this around, I just need a loan to help me clear my bills and buy a car (I am paying $950 a month for a rental) - I will be able to repay $10,000 within a year, with interest. I even have art work (worth more) - which I can give as collateral. I know this is a long shot, but if there is anyone out there who can help me get our life back on track - it would mean the world to us. God Bless.

Answer:
I'd suggest trying Prosper ( http://www.prosper.com/ ) - no guarantee you'll get the money you need but, it's worth a shot. If i understand the beginning of your post - you and your husband shared the business? Maybe you can come up with something your old clients would be interested in, write some articles or something like that, and send an offer out to the old business mailing list. Or you could do something similar with your current line of work and sell the information over the Internet - you'd have to actively look for customers, but it might work out. Of course any success in that plan is highly dependant on what you and your husband used to do, and what you currently do, and there's no guarantee you'll actually make much off it, but you might be able to get a little out of it.
