Do you have a code of conduct for yourself that you TRY to abide by?

Ask:
do you have ethics, and morals, and if so, what are some of them? do you understand what honor is, and do you try to live honorably? this migh be the simplist thing I have ever asked

Answer:
I do. I have rules that I set for myself. I refuse to kill anything, even bugs, unless I absolutely have to. I don't steal, lie or cheat. Really, my overall rule is that you can do whatever you want, as long as you're not hurting anybody or anything.
Answer:
I do have a code of conduct, honor not so much as I think that is just another form of pride that people can use just to proove a point. I try to be myself, be nice and kind to others but I will always stick up for myself as long as it doesn't harm anyone. Basically I agree with everything Xeno says, and now he is going to think I am one mad stalker as every post I go to I agree with what he says, I think I just have very similar views to him, Honest Xeno I am not a mad stalker lady :D
Answer:
I prefer to call my stalkers 'groupies'.

Answer:
Hmm. the simplest question and probably the most important.. .yet there have been few serious answers. This is very important to me. I have changed my code of conduct over my life, and finally starting to be able to live the way I believe. I grew up asking "what would Jesus do?" which became very hard because I'm gay and I feel that judgement and second guessing my every action by using a set of standards that isn't congruent with what my soul says is not natural (at least not to me). This is my ideal: 1. Assume the best of everyone. Try to see everyone as the grandest, best version of who they are and treatthem that way. 2. Know that everything is one and treating it as such. By this I mean we are all part of one organism, so if I hurt myself I hurt you and if I hurt you I hurt myself. This also means making buying choices and waste choices and votes follow suit to protect myself, ourselves.. the organism. 3. Living by the standard of "does this action contribute to someone's growth or understanding, or does it hurt me, us, our understanding. (this one has been the hardest to do) Obviously, I'm not perfect, but I think this is a little better than: follow the 10 commandments and hate gay people.
Answer:
I think the key word to me was "try". Yes, I do, but I sometimes fail miserably. I will never believe that any of us are perfect and so I try not to beat myself up too much over it but I do have guilt issues.
Answer:
Yeah I agree there Skeyes, I also 'try', but then everyone lapses once in a while. Another for me, kind of like what UCreateUrReality said, I try to trust everyone I meet without judging, until they prove me wrong.
Answer:
then what if they do prove you wrong
Answer:
I am a Christian and I never did like that "What would Jesus do?" thing! Drove me nuts! Oh, and I certainly do not hate gays, but it is scary the number of "Christian" that hate gays in the name of God.
Answer:
then what if they do prove you wrong If they prove me wrong - no trust.
Answer:
I know this may not be the place, but I really have to plug this movie. Its free and its 2 hours,.. and a little hard to stomach, but I think more people should know about it http://zeitgeistmovie.com/
Answer:
eh. Sure, I have morals, I have principles. I don't think about them. I do what I feel is right at the time. I don't go over them in my mind and tell myself that I need to follow this, or do that... I just go with it. I'm not going to be downright mean to anyone for no reason. But I'm also not going to be the nicest person in the world every second of the day, either. I live honorably in the way it seems right to me. I do my homework, I smile at babies, what more can you ask of me?
Answer:
I do, I do. There have definitely been times in my life when I've thrown my moral conduct to the wind, however. But overall, I do have a general set of mores I try to stick to. I've never really taken the time to write them down or think about them in depth. This brings me to a similar question: IS THERE SUCH A THING AS RIGHT OR WRONG? OR IS IT ALL JUST MORALS FORCE FED TO US BY AN EXTREMIST SOCIETY? I'll have to post this as my own question....hmmm....exciting! My first post!
Answer:
i have a list of things i never wanna do and if i will i will never do them again. ie. Drink & Drive, its one or the other, not both get violent on alcohol, I would never drink again
Answer:
I read Chagny's "Knight's Own Book of Chivalry", which sets some pretty good examples and standards to live honorably by. Quite a few of the precepts mentioned can be directly applied to today's world. It really does help. The Bible is a great source, too. I highly recommend it. You don't have to be all hardcore and post bumperstickers that shout your faith whiling listening constantly to Christian music, but at least applying some of the Bible's ethics to your life can at least help you see the bigger picture and the bigger purpose that awaits you. Who knows... it may even open up your eyes to see God.
Answer:
I am a christian too I slip every so often and i have rules, but 1 of my major ones is don't let what other people think you should be affect who you are.

I've never really taken the time to write them down or think about them in depth. why not? you can obviously write, ha ha many people I have asked this question say something very simaler, or they say "I am a Christian" or "I am a Muslim" or " I try to do the right thing" so, we can write a grocery list, we can write poetry, we can write a reply to a post..or even a whole post..but we cannot take the time to define and explain, even to ourselves, what our values are? ..this seems, wrong somehow. All these general answers may mean totally different things to different people.. As for this: "IS THERE SUCH A THING AS RIGHT OR WRONG? OR IS IT ALL JUST MORALS FORCE FED TO US BY AN EXTREMIST SOCIETY?" the way I answer this for myself is..Is it ever right to molest a child? Is it ever wrong to help, truley help, a loved one? in case you don't get that post written.
Answer:
I am a christian too I slip every so often and i have rules, but 1 of my major ones is don't let what other people think you should be affect who you are. With all due respect, may I ask why you are a Christian? As surely, you must have been influenced in some sense to become a religious person?
Answer:
Code of Conduct: Everything you do, every choice you make has a consequence. Don't do what you're not willing to pay for. Code of Ethics: Be the best you can be. Don't let people depend on you, if you're going to let them down. Morals: People may be a load of ****, but remember, you're a person too, so what you think about them, they think about you. So treat people right. Karma's a *****.
